This show has Nam Joo Hyuk in it.
'Nuff said?
You know I'm going to have a lot to say so here goes.

The Bride Of The Water God had a lot of hype going around it. However, like most shows which have got a lot of hype, this one failed to reach my expectations.

The plot for starters, felt really similar to Goblin. Random human living on planet earth is destined to be the bride of a great god and all that divine shnazz that follows. (I know shnazz isn't a word but you're just gonna have to accept it)

However, the plot is slightly different. The said human girl is actually destined to be the servant of the great god played by Nam Joo Hyuk, which makes the title of the story a bit misleading.

The servant girl, played by the beautiful Shin Se Kyung is a psychiatrist failing to make ends meet

The servant girl, played by the beautiful Shin Se Kyung is a psychiatrist failing to make ends meet. She's not poor and hopeless like most of the leads we used to see back in the old dramas, but she's struggling to live with a ton of humanly problems.
Enter Habaek, the great water god played by Nam Joo Hyuk, who is sent to earth to collect sacred stones from the Earth and Air Gods, but somehow he loses his powers and his map that would guide him, while transitioning to earth. He needs these sacred stones so that he can be crowned king in the God World, and for that he'd need the help of his human servant.

Based on the manga of the same name, the drama does achieve some funny and quirky moments, and there are some pretty unique scenes in this drama.

The supporting roles are divine. I personally thought that the chemistry between the two supporting gods beat the chemistry between the leads.

There's no villain as such in this drama, just a few troubled minor gods

The cinematography and casting is great.

The show makers have also made every attempt to make the gods as godly as possible, with imbricate costumes and regal mannerisms

However, here's why the drama didn't reach up to my expectations.

Somehow, I felt like the producers of this show had a certain idea about where they wanted this show to head and what they wanted the show to be like, but they failed to reciprocate that to the audience. The communication between the makers and the target audience is to blame.
Execution of the show was poor too, and if they had been successful in depicting exactly what they were thinking, this show would have been much more successful, if that makes sense.

The actors too, seemed confused at times, however they have stuck to their roles and performed their part to the best.
The leads look really cute together, and it was especially fun to watch Shin Se Kyung act differently at different times, awkward yet funny.

That's a chicken leg he's clutching on to dearly
