Branch shoved his vests in his final bag and swung it around his shoulder. He didn't know where he was going or what he was going to do with himself, but he knew he needed to get away.
About to head for the door, a small, pink handed grabbed his and pulled him back.
"P-P-Popp-"
"Branch, h-hear me out," Poppy said, between cries.
"Why should I?" Branch muttered. "Besides, what do you care? You don't love me, anyway."
Branch began to walk away, but Poppy wrapped her arms around his waist and rested her head on his back.
"I do love you."
Branch smiled, but he shook his head. "I'm not falling for it. You're in love with Creek."
"No, I'm not. It was all a misunderstanding."
Branch figured there was no reason to argue. He brushed her hair with his finger and smiled at her.
"I love you, Poppy."
"I love you, too."
