Lynn's POV
Lynn, get out, Charles cautioned urgently and his jittery warning had me jolting up in my chair as my breaths automatically accelerated.
"What is it, Lynn?" Scott prodded in concern.
"Something's wrong. He's in distress," I mumbled edgily as I invited myself back into the conversation happening inside the isolated jail but a patch of silence was all that existed within the transparent containment.
Nervously grabbing the plastic rims of my chair, I strenuously propelled myself towards the suspended bridge but my path was readily precluded by a repulsive pot belly.
"You can't go in there, Mrs. Xavier. Lehnsherr is only permitted one visitor at a time," Laurio ordered in a strict tone, peering down at me with crossed arms and an unbending gaze.
"What have you told Stryker?" Charles finally interrogated in an apprehensive tone.
"Everything," Erik scoffed, yet his shaky tone beamed with immense remorse that sounded genuinely genuine.
"The war has begun," Erik announced in an ironically pitiful tone.
To hell with you, butterball! I growled ferociously and with a flick of my telekinesis, the dumpy guard was sent crashing towards the wall on my right, basically knocking him out.
Easily, I extracted his acrylic baton from its holster and the clear sturdy rod swiftly sailed through the thoroughly disinfected air into my palm as another blaring grunt followed to divert my attention.
As I witnessed the other warden who was presumably aiming to restrain me being efficiently blasted into another corner of the secured room by the dynamic optic rays of Scott, calibrated to be potent but not fatal by his professional visor, the entrance of the sealed chamber unexpectedly slid open, revealing a familiar female in the wide rectangular aperture.
Dressed smartly in a full grey pants suit, the Asian lady effecting a conceited strut actually looked nerdy with her black-framed glasses and neatly tied ponytail but her mind, burdened with a single vicious purpose, incredibly contradicted her external studious demeanor.
"Charl-" I wailed hysterically, realizing he was her ultimate target, and hurriedly wheeled myself towards the glass exit but before I could smash it with the weapon in my hand, I was struck by something sharp.
The acute pain in the back of my neck instinctively induced a stifled yelp that impeded my attempt to even cry his name and my fingers automatically released their grasp from the dense stick. It plummeted to the ceramic tiles with a piercing clang but blended well with the boisterous commotion spontaneously erupting behind me and I craned my head back difficultly, observing Scott, sporting an odd item jutting out from his chest, being tackled by the untamed woman who fought like no ordinary teacher.
"Lynn!" Charles frenziedly exclaimed and I locked an agonizing eye contact with him, miserably watching him futilely slamming his palms to the encasing of Erik's cell.
"You should have killed me when you had the chance!" Erik yelled bitterly.
Faintly registering Erik stumbling backwards, I forcefully yanked out the object protruding from the back of my neck but before I could really analyze the unconventional three-prong dart that was highly similar to the one stabbed into Scott's torso, I was abruptly tossed out of my chair.
