Lynn's POV
"Look who's come back. Just in time. You'll have interesting company tonight," Storm remarked humorously, playfully nudging on Jubilee's arm and the girls giggled as Logan merely stared at Jean in dismay.
"Mrs. Summers," Logan scoffed in disbelief, as if repeating the formal nomenclature could aid his shaken mind in reconciling with the union he reckoned was unsatisfactory, not to mention utterly repugnant and absolutely preposterous, but had, unfortunately for him, materialised nonetheless.
"Yes. Scott and I got married last summer," Jean announced proudly, gladly intertwining her fingers with her husband's.
"How apt," Logan retorted sarcastically, fidgeting bitterly with his backpack slung over his shoulder, and the atmosphere invariably tensed as the clock ticked by silently.
"You remember Jubilee, right?" Jean radically shifted the topic off tangent and joyfully curled elbows with her childhood bestie, lugging her towards Logan.
"Sleeping beauty? How could I forget," Logan mocked audaciously but Jubilee still maintained her signature bubbly smile.
"It's nice to finally meet you in person, Logan. I've heard so much about you," Jubilee greeted cheerfully, courteously extending out her hand and Logan obliged to shake it for a fleeting second.
"Everything good I hope," Logan boasted shamelessly as he gave Scott a cocky smirk which was reciprocated by a plain nonchalant stance.
"I should go get the jet ready," Storm blatantly lied but it was, in all honesty, a rather clever excuse to remove herself from the impending rivalry.
"And I should check on the children," Jubilee asserted sheepishly, quickly pacing towards Storm.
"What were you saying I was in time for?" Logan questioned in the direction of the girls but was completely ignored as they hurriedly strutted down the hall, giggling away.
"We need a babysitter," Jean revealed jovially.
"A babysitter?" Logan commented in confusion.
"Storm and I are heading out. The Professor wants us to find the mutant who attacked the President," Jean alerted with a moderately saddened expression.
"So it was a mutant?" Logan prodded, peering down at me tentatively and I nodded.
"You'll be here when we get back. Unless you plan on running off again," Jean conveyed bluntly, displaying an obvious displeasure for his unannounced departure prior.
"I could probably think of a few reasons to stick around," Logan openly taunted, advancing towards Jean but Scott swiftly sandwiched himself between them, wrapping his arm protectively around his missus who basically smiled, though her peculiar expression of contentment appeared to also be fueled by mild gloating.
"Your bike needs gas," Logan disclosed defiantly, slapping a set of keys into Scott's hand.
"Then, fill her up," Scott ordered calmly, shoving the metallic bunch back into Logan's chest.
"C'mon, you need to pack," Scott beckoned softly and Jean willingly complied, obediently tailing him up the stairs.
"You're leaving as well?" Logan denounced in astonishment as I began to wheel away and I immediately swiveled around, staring at him with a discriminating gaze.
"You can walk, yes?" I prompted acutely and Logan raised his brows in amusement awhile but eventually escaped his stupefaction, trailing along, as I smoothly propelled myself through the school.
