it's my birthday (tomorrow) so i made a present for you guys
Anyways Deja Vu will be in the mix for updates alongside my other current works starting... at 1.5K followers, probably. I'm not doing this to be an ass and I want to start it more than anyone (TRUST ME I'VE DONE NOTHING BUT THINK ABOUT THESE KIDS FOR MONTHS) but there are still a few things I want to fix up and if I've learned anything from my 1K follower book (which is still rotting over there in the corner but will be back up eventually maybe) it's that starting things before you're ready always ends in tragedy.
ANYHOW. This isn't the first chapter, this is just where the plot really starts kicking off, so some quick introduction for anyone who's not aware of the premise:
Adam and Will Rosenbloom are twins just entering ninth grade who both stumble across a strange, magical otherworld known as the Veins where they're told that them and their new friends are the only ones who can stop an ensuing apocalypse.
However Adam and Will both stumble onto this at different times and with different people- both of them are going on their own quests and neither knows the other is leading a double life. Shenanigans ensue as both twins try to hide their secret identities from each other.
What's happened before this chapter:
-Adam finds a rock.
That's it man let's just get right into it
___Adam: 2___
I turn the stone a few times in my hand and look ahead at the gaping hole in reality with an almost alarming ambivalence. I suppose there's only so many times you can panic about even the strangest of occurrences, but it might just be that I've kind of figured that there's no way this is the end of the weird shit I'm going to have to deal with.
Still, standing in an abandoned alleyway, staring into a gray hole in reality itself is pretty unnerving. The void generates no heat, no light, and from what I can tell no one else has noticed it's there yet.
You caused this, I think, turning the stone again. It's a small, unassuming white crystal, but it's given me more trouble than its appearance could ever give it credit for. Ever since I picked the thing up off the ground, these have been popping up in doorways, staircases, windows... you name it. I almost walked through one by accident.
I tried dropping the thing on the floor (correction: I chucked it in the trash while walking home and then picked up the pace a little) but it appeared in my pocket as soon as I got home. It was on the dresser drawer in the morning, too, and in my backpack when I decided to wear an outfit with no pockets that day.
Whatever this thing wants from me, it's very determined to get it.
"Okay," I assure myself. "Everything else is still the same, I already searched this up on the Internet and there's nothing that matches my symptoms. The portals are way too specific to be some retinal issue and I'm not creative enough to imagine any of this. Given, I still have no idea what's going on, but I'm still thinking straight, so... not crazy."
What are your other options? whispers a little voice in my head.
"The other option is that this could be something legitimate. Magic. Aliens. I don't know."
Alright. Talking to myself. Might be a little crazy. I think I might be heading in that general direction right now.
If that didn't solidify it, I take a deep breath, and place my hand into the void.
I don't know what finally did it. Curiosity? A sudden stroke of madness? Some desire to end whatever waiting game the thing was playing with me and my mind? Whatever reason, when I get my hand in there, something grabs hold from the other side and the next thing I know, I'm lying in a dark room with no exits in sight, sprawled across the floor in the most undignified manner imaginable.
