I was awake quite a while but I kept my eyes closed because if I opened them.

This all will be real...

It will true....

It will be the reality. And I refused to accept this, I deny it.

I heard a man clear his throat, "Miss Daiches, I know you're awake. It's okay, open your eyes"

I smiled, easy for him to say. I was currently laying completely straight on the bed, my hands by my side.

"Miss Daiches? Please open your eyes" I heard him say more persistently

Okay then.

I slowly opened my eyes, that's when it happened. I saw it, it was true now. I had witnessed it, now I will have to believe it, I thought as I stared at the white ceiling, I turned my head to see the white walls, white sheets.

I was in a mental hospital, slowly I  sat up and looked at the man in front of me.

He was a good looking man, normally I would have admired his looks but right now I couldn't help but imagine pushing the chair he was on and banging his head against the floor.

He smiled, "How are you feeling?"

I smiled back equally polite, "I'm fantastic, how are you doc?"

I saw his expression waver a little but he immediately covered it, "Do you know where you are?" He asked

"Yes" I said tilting my head to the side, still smiling.

"Well, I want you to know that you don't have to think of me as a doctor. We will be like friends. We will chat, play some games and everything casual." He went on

"Of course" I nodded smiling, "You also don't have to think of me as a mental patient. I will be like your friend."

He sighed still keeping his smile on, "I don't think you're mental, but your parents have been through a lot because of some of their mistakes, they don't want a repeat of history. I'm just here to show them that you are perfectly fine. I'm here to help you."

"Perfect!" I said

"Would you like to talk about you blacking out lately?" He asked

"What about it?" I asked

"Like what did you do to yourself? Why did you hurt yourself?" He asked

"I didn't. My neighbour and a guy from my school were having a fight, I tried to end it and ended up falling and hitting my head." I replied normally

He wrote something on his file, "Really? Why were they fighting?"

I shrugged, "Go ask them"

Suddenly there was a knock on the door, a nurse came in, "Doctor she has a visitor." She looked shy

She looked my way and I grinned at her, she quickly looked away, shifting a little.

The doctor nodded, "Alright send her in, we will talk tomorrow Miss Daiches" he smiled

I smiled back, "can't wait"

They both left and after a minute or two, Sophia walked in.

I observed the dark circles under her eyes and pale skin, she clearly hadn't slept or eaten anything properly. And obviously she's been crying.

"Hey" she said, trying to smile but failing miserably.

I smiled freely, "Hey Sophie" I gestured towards the chair in front of me for her to sit.

"What has this all turned into? I don't understand what's happening! And why are you so calmly smiling." She cleaned a tear that had left her eye.

"They can't keep me in here long, they don't have anything except their assumptions, I just have to prove them wrong" I shrugged

"You're in a mental hospital, aren't you even a little freaked?" She looked surprised at my poise attitude

"No, I always kept making stories for how I would end up here. The current situation is nothing compared to what I would imagine. I just can't wait to get out of here and slit the throat of the person who did this to me" I sighed, "Anyway, tell me what's up beyond these walls? What are Travis and Elliot up to?"

"They both are devastated, Travis looks like a ghost. He has dark circles around his eyes and he keeps coming here but they don't let him visit only your parents and I can visit you apparently." She explained, "Elliot on the other hand, comes one time a day and then goes back to your parents house to let him meet you just once but they don't even reply to his pleadings. They both just sit around all day staring out the window or crying. I thought you would be the worst of us all, but you are so collected"

I chuckled, "I'm in a mental hospital, I have nothing else to lose, my sanity is being questioned. I know one thing, I'm getting out of here very soon"

A nurse entered, "times up ma'am"

Sophia got up to leave looking at me as if trying to somehow take me with her and she left.

The nurse looked at me and I winked at her, she disappeared like a ghost. I chuckled.
