"Tell me to stop."
•••The rest of the week went by smoothly. I saw Victoria every single day and I don't mean by going to Phantom. She visited me at work and brought me lunch like my mother used to do when I was in grade school. I thought it was really nice of Victoria to do that, as we were trying to continue on with this friendship building even after the countless rounds of sex. Goddamn, the sex was so good. She was right about making that decision because now it seemed like things were going well between us, like really well.
This morning I woke up to the sound of my alarm. Yes, even on the weekends I set an alarm to get up. I like getting shit done whether it's going out and buying groceries to restock the fridge or even staying at home and doing work. Shit, I always had work so that wasn't something that I could let sit around and pile up. Helena would hand me my own ass if I didn't get paperwork done when she wanted it. She always kept me in line about that and I appreciated her for it. She was my assistant afterall.
Speaking of Helena, Xavier kept going on about how he wished she would go to the gala with him, but he figured that she would turn him down since she never really went to these types of events. Helena's a very private person and I almost never caught her out anywhere except work. I needed her to make this time an exception and I was hoping that she wouldn't be busy when I called.
"Helena, what are you doing tonight?" I asked loudly as soon as she answered the phone.
"Why are you yelling?" she groaned followed by the clear of her throat and then there was a bark in the background. "Champ, hush. What's up, Justin?"
"I need you to be Xavier's date to the gala tonight. I know it's last minute, but I have a dress and all the accessories to go with it. Just say yes," I begged, cutting right to the chase. I never sugarcoated with her.
"Justin," she sighed as my phone buzzed on my ear, signalling that I had an incoming call. "I'm not sure that's a wise plan."
"Helena, please go with him. He's too much of a pussy to ask you. He thinks that you're out of his league and don't find him attractive, but that's not true...is it?"
"Well no, it isn't true. I'm nothing special," she chuckled. "I think that he's really cute," she said and it was clear in her tone that there was a smile on her face. "Do I look like I would say no if he asked me?"
"You really want me to answer that? He seriously thinks that you wouldn't give him the time of day, so yes," I laughed at her question. "Please ask him."
"Okay, I'll ask. You really don't have to provide me with a dress and all that."
"It's the least I can do. Plus, I'm the one asking you to go with him for my own benefit," I admitted. "If you don't go, I'll have to see him mope around wishing that he asked as he's drinking by himself and watching everyone else have fun with their date."
"I said I'd do it," she sighed. "I'll come over in a few hours. Anything else before I go back to sleep?" I sensed a bit of attitude and that made me smile. I loved getting on her nerves.
"Yeah, can you start bringing me coffee?" I joked and she let out groan. "I'm kidding-wait why are you still sleeping? It's almost the afternoon."
"I don't ask you why you do the things that you do," she retorted. "It's Saturday, Justin."
"Helena, I'm just fucking with you. Go back to sleep. Bye," I laughed as she muttered a bye and hung up. "What to do," I pondered aloud before remembering that someone called me. Going to my missed calls, I saw Victoria's contact. She left me a voicemail, so I tapped Speaker and listened to it.
