Violet
"Vi, catch!"
I catch the frisbee Harry throws my way, giggling as I almost drop it in the lake. I throw it back to him, using all the force I have, and he hits the water with a loud splash. I double over in laughter as Harry emerges from the water, his hair soaking wet and his expression dazed.
"Right on!" He cries.
It was the most perfect weather to be at the lake, and the boys and I were loving every second of it. Everyone but Niall and Zayn. They hadn't shown up yet. I had no idea where they went, but they had been gone for a good hour. To be honest, I didn't think they were going to show up at all.
I didn't know how to deal with things between Zayn and I. My feelings for him were ones that I could not fathom, all pieces of string falling loosely throughout my body that couldn't be connected. I didn't know what to do. I thought he was on the same page as me, but obviously not. Every time I thought I knew what I was doing, and I knew what was best for me and for us, all I had to do was just look at him. Then I'd be right back there again, right back to the moment where I first fell for him. Just one look and that was enough, enough to make me melt into a massive puddle of love and give myself completely to him.
God, he frustrated the hell out of me.
"You okay, Violet?"
I turn to see Liam standing beside me in the water, his toned and tanned chest glowing under the sunlight, his hair the perfect kind of messy and wet. I'd be lying if I said the mere sight of Liam Payne still didn't knock all the breath out of me.
"All good," I answer. "It's lovely weather."
"Sure is. Avery must be up there smiling to create this much sunshine."
I give a smile at his words, but I don't continue them. It hurt too much to think about her. "Have you seen Zayn and Niall?" I ask.
He shakes his head. "I was just about to ask you."
"I might go look for them," I say, starting towards the land. "Go see if they're back at the campsite."
"You want me to come with you?"
"N-No!" I cry, a little shaky. "No, that's fine. I'll be fine. I'll, uh, I'll see you guys later?"
Liam just nods and waves at me as I walk back onto land, drying myself off and slipping on my shorts and a kimono. I then grab my things and head back to the campsite. Only when I reach it, I realise I'm the only one there.
If Niall and Zayn weren't here, then where else could they possibly be? I decide to start an investigation, packing away my things and starting towards the forest. They couldn't be far. I chose to completely ignore all the bad things that could have happened to them and just keep walking.
I'm about five minutes into the woods when I hear faint voices that I can't quite make out. I edge closer, trying to get a better listen, and I then realise that it's Zayn. And he's yelling.
"How could she say that? You weren't there, Niall, but you should've felt it. The damn connection we had. It was unlike anything I've ever felt. It's like I was right back there with her. At the beginning. You can't just deny something like that. I know we can make it work. We can try again. I can't fucking live without her."
I pause in my tracks, hiding behind a tree to make sure I'm not seen. I'm even holding my breath. Did he ... did he just ...
"And she had the decency, the fucking decency, to look me in the face and say it meant nothing. 'We're just friends'. Yeah, fucking bullshit. You know what it is? She's stubborn. She's such a god damn stubborn ass that she's preventing this from happening even though she knows she wants it to. She always does this, every damn time."
