Zayn

"Since the ancient era, literature has been a form of entertainment, enlightment, and instruction. It would simply take me all day to list every great literary genius out there, so I'm leaving it up to you to find one you admire and research it. This will be the information for your first paper on why literature is significant in the modern world. I'll see you next lesson."

As the class stirs around to leave I pack up my things. To my left I see Josh surrounded by a group of people. How on earth is he so popular? He's an absolute twat. I don't like what he did to Emma and I don't like him hanging around Violet.

I'm just leaving when I hear him yell out my name. I sigh, turning around slowly to see him saying goodbye to his friends and rushing over towards me. "Hey, Zayn." He grins.

I just roll my eyes and start walking again.

"I was just wondering, have you seen Violet?" He struggles to keep up with my pace.

"No." I was being completely honest, because I hadn't. Emma and I got back late Sunday afternoon and I had a shift at the bar. It was now Monday morning and I had just had English but I knew Violet didn't have classes until the afternoon, so I was hoping I could see her. I think we kind of gave up on the whole communication through our phones thing because we'd never get the texts until way later or we'd miss the calls. We were both just always so busy and were starting to realise we had completely different schedules.

"Oh. Well, if you do, can you tell her I'm looking for her? She's not answering her phone."

I just nod, trying to show him I'm done with this conversation.

"See you, Zayn." He gives me a small wave before walking off. I just flip him off.

I pass the courtyard as I head towards Violet's dorm and take a double glance as I see the back of Violet's head by the small pond. I'm certain it's her because she's wearing the two black hair pins she wears every day to clip back her fringe. I smile and make my way towards her.

I put my hands over her eyes and lean down closer to her face. She squirms beneath me and when I take my hands off she spins around the quickest I've ever seen her move. "What in the living-" Her eyes widen. "ZAYN!"

I grin as she jumps up and literally stands on the bench she's sitting on, reaching up to wrap her arms around my neck. I pick her up and pull her over the bench, resting her gently on the ground beside me. Our lips immediately find each other's and we stay locked together for quite some time. I don't realise how much I miss the taste of her until I go without it for an entire weekend.

"I missed you," she whispers, looking up at me with her bright blue eyes. "I missed you so much."

"I missed you too." I lean down and kiss her again, revelling in the entirety of her.

She pulls away and smiles. "You wanna get some lunch?"

"I'd love to."

"So, you wouldn't go back there?" Violet asks over a mouthful of salad.

"God no, never in a million years. It was absolutely terrifying, Vi. I looked right into that guy's eyes and saw nothing but evil." I sip at my water.

Violet just laughs. "And he really said he wanted to kill you?"

"His exact words."

She shudders. "God, how spooky."

"Spooky is right." I swallow my mouthful of food. "So, how was your trip?"

"We didn't actually make it to the museum," she says, playing with her food. "The car broke down and ... uh, someone came to give us a jumpstart and we drove back home."
