BUCKY-End of the Line Part 2

"I used to tell your dad that I was with him till the end of the line...at least I told him that before I was brainwashed into becoming a Russian Assassin...but that is a story for another time. I always remember that first time I said it, it was a promise...that I would be on his side till the day we died-the end of the line.

I was still unaware of my identity and had been sent to kill your dad. He told me that he was "with me till the end of the line" that was the one phrase that started to bring me back. I was the Winter Soldier, still am...I guess it will always be a part of me. I fought with your parents for years, helping to win the battles we could not loose, the world depended on us. Then, James, your parents fell in love. There was no place for me in their worlds, I am only a ghost of the man I used to be... I left, I made sure they thought I had died, so that they would move on and live their lives. I didn't want to be a threat to them...Didn't want them to be a part of my past. They got married and then you came along. Little James, child of the American Hero and the spy. You were their only weakness. I watched you guys for years, eliminated anything that threatened you....They never knew, until you were captured by A.I.M. I had no choice, but to show myself to save you. You and your mom were the only people to see me alive for 10 years. I went back to the shadows, but I never stopped watching over you. I couldn't prevent your parents deaths, that's what haunts me from day to day. I should have been there for you, James, to guide you into the world, but I feared being counted among the living, so I stayed dead. That doesn't mean I didn't help you. Do you really think you met Francis by chance? I arranged your meeting. Both of you needed a teammate to survive, so I solved your problems. Did you ever wonder how you stayed under the radar of A.I.M., HYDRA, and S.H.I.E.L.D? That was me. Do you remember that time you found an inactive bomb underneath your car that has miraculously been deactivated? That was me...I made it my job to keep you safe. I gave you the gifted index...Everything you have done to get here was partially my fault. The one thing I couldn't have predicted was you, Torrun. I've kept you safe and helped you stay hidden. James, I promised to be with your dad till the end of the line...so I guess that counts the end of his line, his heir, YOU."
