"It's hard enough to live up to your father's legacy. Especially when you carry a name with as much weight and expectation as mine. My first name comes in honor of my father's best friend, Bucky. My last name, well it should be apparent. As the child of a super soldier and a spy, life always takes unexpected turns and I have to deal with what it gives."

"Shut up Rogers. No one wants to hear your inspirational "I must carry the mantle of my father speeches" anymore! It's getting old! Just because you want to reveal your identity to the world doesn't mean you have to do it like your dad!" Francis hollers at me from his room.

"You better stop talking Barton or I'll make sure you can't talk for a week" I reply.

"Big words little action, I doubt you would even try and even if you did..."

I get up and slam my door shut. Francis may be a complete idiot, but he is still my greatest ally. Ever since our parents died out trials have brought us together. We are the last of the Avengers. We carry their legacy. Francis and I struggle to survive every single day. With me on the run from Hydra and the Red Room for samples of my blood so they can have my DNA, and Francis running away from every person who he ticks off, we make a "great" team. If he could learn to stop talking he would be an ideal partner.

"James, you're gonna want to see this..." Francis mumbles outside my door.

Francis has a tone in his voice. I've known him long enough to know he is not joking.

I open my door and follow him into the computer room. He pulls up a News Broadcast on the projector. "....breaking news The long lost shield of American hero Steve Rogers aka Captain America has been discovered in an abandoned building. After restoration, the shield will be placed in the American history museum as a memorial to Captain Rogers." I turn off the projector.

"No, it's a trap. Someone wants us out in the open."

"Dude, don't you want it? It's the last evidence of your dad. It's your heritage you are the heir. It's yours."

Francis has his father's bow and his mother's staffs. He knows how much I've longed to hold a piece of my dad's equipment.

"I could reveal my identity, and claim it, but that would be what they want."

"Or" Francis says with a smirk. "We could steal it."

I stare at him. For once, he is not completely insane. This might work.
"We are gonna need help"
I retort.

"Don't worry Cap, I'll assemble your Avengers"
Francis suddenly turns and leaves.

What have I done?
