Goodbye Jacob

Sorry for the wait again but here is a short update! I was thinking of writing another story on wattpad.. should I? but this is always my first priority. anyways, hope you enjoy this update! Much Love

Payton's POV

After my graduation party, it was only natural for me to start packing. My family all wanted to come with me as Nicole and I went to our dorms. We were leaving in 2 days. My family spent alot of this time with each other. We watched movies and talked as my mom and Drew both resented me leaving. I had packed up all of my essentials such as my clothing and shoes, while Drew had in his car, all of the appliances we'll need like a microwave, minifridge, fan etc. Dean decided that one car out there was enough for us so, that evening, a large truck and come to pick up Nicole's Car, her new black Jeep grand cherokee. The next night, the eve of our deaparture, Jacob came over. "Hey Payton" he said as he walked through the front door. "Hey cubs" I said to him. It wasn't awkward for us because we had been friends for so long. We hung out for a little by ourselves, and soon Nicole joined us for our last hang out as a squad. We were all sitting in my basement chilling when Nicole said " Lets go for a drive. Our last one as a family" she said sappily. Jacob and I both agreed. We went out to Jacobs car, the car that held so many amazing memories and Jacob pulled out of our driveway. We drove around our town taking the longest roads possible. I sat in the front seat and Nicole sat in the back. I reached over and touched Jacob's shoulder. " Cubs are you scared for UT?" I asked him. He smiled and responded " nah not at all, why?" "well because you're moving to a different state, without anybody" I said sadly. " So are you" he pointed out. "well yea but I have nicole" he said as he turned the wheel, driving us back towards the city. He was going to take us back to his house so we could say goodbye to his mom and dad. "Yea, you're moving to Texas all by yourself." Nicole said. " hey i mean that's growing up right?" he said. I turned around and smiled at Nicole. I was so lucky I didn't have to go through this alone. "Yea I guess it is" I sighed. I looked at Jacob and all of these wonderful memories flooded back to my head. "I'm gonna miss you so so much" I said sadly. " yea me too" nicole also said sadly. Jacob turned to look at us and we were both on the brink of crying. " no no don't cry guys, if Longhorns basketball ever comes to California i'm gonna come visit you! And it's not like we aren't gonna talk anymore. We'll facetime, and skype. You guys are my best friends, i'm not letting you guys go that easy." We all smiled at each other and soon we arrived at Jacob's house. It was around 8pm. We walked into his house and smelled cookies. We went to the kitchen where Jacob's mom was baking cookies and other sweets. " Oh girls!" she said excitedly as she put down a frosting pen she had in her hand. She was getting sweets ready for Jacob to take with him. She shuffled over to Nicole and we all folded in for a huge group hug. She pulled me tight and I pulled her back. " oh sugars I'm gonna miss y'all. Payton you're my darling girl that I never had! Nicole I love you like my own. Y'all are going to do great things in the world. In college, with your volleyball team." She said. We smiled and I started tearing up. I hugged her once more and as we hugged, Jacob's brothers came down, Justin and Jalen. Justin smiled at me, he was the oldest one, and was in town for Jacob's graduation. I remember he drove Jacob and I freshman year. He walked over and hugged me. " It seems like only yesterday you and cubby were begging me to take you guys everywhere. You've grown up" he said. He was tall, about 6'2 and had dark brown hair and light blue eyes. He was cute but not my type. He played hockey for a Divison 2 school in Minnesota. I turned around and found Jalen approaching me. He was two years younger than me and he always used to follow Jacob and I around when we hung out at their house. He was an adorable guy, 6'0 and had light brownish blonde hair and these warm inviting brown eyes. Mr. and Mrs. Tucker had some good looking kids. "I'm sorry for always chasing you and Jacob around and for having a secret crush on you" he said jokingly. I smiled and pulled him in for a hug." ah you're a great kid, so don't even worry about it!" I said. We both pulled away and Jacob suggested he take us home. I said my final goodbyes to the Tucker family and soon, I left the Tucker household, forever. We made our final pitstop at starbucks and we each got our signature drink. We drove Nicole home and I waited in the car while Nicole and Jacob said their final goodbyes. They hugged for like a minute and said some words to each other and soon Nicole walked up her driveway, waving once more to Jacob. Jacob and I drove home remembering all of the amazing memories we had together. Soon we got to my house and internally I was dreading this. I didn't want to say goodbye to my best friend. We both got out of the car and walked up to my porch. " So I guess this is it" Jacob said. I turned to face him and I grabbed his hand. " I guess it is.." I said sadly. We both pulled each other in for a hug and we hugged for a solid 4 minutes. As I hugged his body my tears began to spill over, lightly and I felt a tear on my shoulder meaning he was crying too. " Jacob thank you for being the most amazing, loyal, compassionate, funny being on this planet, and being my best friend" I said softly. "Payton thank you for being the most caring, sweet,adorable, and forgiving person, and an even better best friend." he said back to me. "High school has been a real blast with you" He said. " I hope you know that you are the bestest friend I've ever had" I said to him. " Don't be a stranger! Call me, text me, skype me, let me know how you are okay?" I said to him. "of course. you're gonna kill it in volleyball. I'm beyond proud of you pay pay" he said back. " I'm even more proud of you, cubs. I hope you have the best college experience ever. Be safe. "I said holding his hand. " I will Pay." We hugged once more and I said " I love you Jacob." " I love you too Payton, thanks for everything. He said. We pulled away slightly and he held my head slightly in his hands. He used his thumbs to wipe away my tears and I did the same to him. He kissed my cheek softly and started walking back to his car, still holding onto my hand. Soon our fingers parted and he got in his car, waved back at me once more, and drove off. I loved Jacob as a best friend, and it was hard saying goodbye to him. I went into my house and my mom saw me with reddened eyes. "Tough night?" she asked. "yea i had to say goodbye to jacob" I said. "aww good for you baby, that just makes tomorrow dreadful" she said, as I don't think she was ready goodbye to me. I went upstairs and changed for bed. I washed my face and brushed my teeth. My room was practically empty. This is the last time I will be sleeping in this room as a dependent teenager. I said goodbyes to everything like my bathroom and bed and desk, and soon I laid down, and went on instagram and posted a picture of Jacob and I from a few days a ago.It was a candid picture of us in his jeep with the wind blowing our hair slightly. I captioned it "goodbye to the best pt 1". I went to bed, with a slight irk in my stomach. Scared of what was to happen next.
