Who's Fault Was It?

Leo's POV:

We searched for hours looking for Mikey. We couldn't find him. We searched every inch of TCRI but nothing. No Mikey. After that we searched the streets. Still nothing. We never said anything when we searched. Just the occasional, "Did you find a clue" and the dreadful "no" that came after. I heard Donnie mutter a few words occasionally. They were usually like, "Turtles can't disappear" or, "Stupid science supplies." Raph wasn't doing any better. Every so often he would whisper, "Why not me?" After several hours of searching we had to go back to the lair. We barely had enough energy to stand up. I couldn't stop thinking about my little brother on the way back to the lair. What would Splinter say when we told him? How do we tell him we lost our little brother......and it was all my fault.

I didn't even notice that we were at the lair until I heard Master Splinter. "Why are you so late my sons? You are.......where's Michelangelo?" Sensei asked. I looked up at him. His eyes were filled with worry. I looked back at my brothers. Raph had a look of pure anger on his face, while Donnie looked like he was about to cry. I'm the leader, I should tell Sensei what happened.

"Master Splinter..........we..... we lost Mikey.... the kraang took him, and we looked all night but we couldn't find him......" I told my father. Master Splinter looked down. I couldn't tell if he was angry, sad, worried or all three. He hid his emotions well if he wanted to. "Was there any trace?" Master Splinter asked. Raph held up Mikey's nunchucks to Master Splinter. Master Splinter grabbed the nunchucks and stared at them for a moment. "I'm sure, it wasn't anyone's fault." Sensei finally said. No.... I'm the leader, it was my fault. I should tell him. "It was all my fault!" Raph, Donnie and I said in unison. We all stared at each other. "No it was my fault!" We said in unison again. "I'm the leader! I'm the one in charge of all of you! So it's MY fault! You don't have to take the blame for anything!" I shouted at my brothers. "I'm the reason we went to TCRI in the first place Leo! Because I wanted new equipment and chemicals so badly, we went to TCRI, which Mikey didn't even want to go, and because I was paying so much attention to that stupid equipment Mikey got captured!" Donnie yelled at me in my face. Raph came in between Donnie and me, and pushed us apart. His eyes were filled with anger. "Don't you idiots see? I'm the one who made Mikey left! I was picking on him, and being mean to him so he left! And I'm the one who.....who froze." Raph said. Raph's eyes turned into big sad ones. Raph, the one who is probably at fault the least, blames himself the most just because he froze when he heard Mikey's scream. "Enough all of you!" Master Splinter said getting our attention. "It doesn't matter who's fault it was! I will not have the three of you beating yourselves up for what happened to Michelangelo! Even though you couldn't find him I'm sure he's fine! Michelangelo is agile, strong, quick, and most importantly, he is a ninja! He can take care of himself! Now I don't want you to blame yourselves for what happened! Understood?" Master Splinter told us. The three of us stood up straight. "Hai Sensei" We said in unison. "And don't worry, we will find your brother!" Sensei told us. I could tell Master Splinter was worried, but even when worried, he is always the one to keep things straight. I looked at my two brothers. Donnie looked like he was thinking of new inventions probably to help Mikey. And Raph looked like he was trying to decipher whether he should still be angry, upset or be confident that we will find Mikey. Me, well, I just wanted my brother back.
