You didn't like this job. You didn't like to observe everyone, just because you were a girl they thought you wouldn't be able to handle any of their jobs. They could've at least put you with Newt!
You walked around looking at the Gladers as they worked their butts off like every other day. You hardly had to do anything, they knew what to do. You didn't have to observe them and tell them that there was something wrong, they would know already.
You stopped when you saw Gally. His muscles clear as he lifted the wood. Okay, maybe there was one thing you liked about this job. It could be an excuse for staring at Gally as long as you wanted.
You got closer and pretended to observe him carefully as he worked. He turned slightly and caught your eye, he suddenly became a little stiff. He stood up straight and rubbed the sweat off his forehead. You sucked in a breath, he was so attractive.
"Hey, Greenie." He said. You rolled your eyes, you hated that he still called you Greenie even if Thomas was the Greenie now.
"Shut up and do your work." You smiled just to make sure he knew you were joking. He chuckled lightly,
"I'm playing, it's funny how it annoys you when I call you Greenie."
"It doesn't annoy me, just shut up slinthead." He laughed louder this time.
"I'm still not used to you using the slang here. Quite amusing hearing them come from you."
You scoffed jokingly, "you should be doing your work instead of talking to me."
"So should you." He shot back. You laughed.
"Touché." He got back to work and you proceeded your daily walk arounds. If that was a thing. You where at the Garden looking at the vines when someone tapped on your shoulder. A bit stunned you jumped. You heard the boy chuckle.
"Saw you over there with Gally, staring at him as he worked. Little Ms. Googly eyes over here has a crush on our Keeper of the Builders." His accent made your voice shiver. Not in the bad way though, he seemed to be the only one with a deep British accent here so it threw you off guard sometimes.
"Shut up Newt." You faced him. He had an amused grin on his face.
"You should tell him."
"Wh-what?"
"It's obvious you like him." He rolled his eyes.
"Wh-No. No I don't." You stammered.
He chuckled and pointed over at Gally who was still picking up wood.
"Can't you tell he likes you too? God, you two are oblivious to each other's feelings."
You felt yourself blushing not wanting Newt to notice you stared at the ground. You kicked a pebble that was on the floor and watched it roll on the grass.
"How are you so sure?" You finally asked.
"I just am. Don't you notice the way he acts when you're around him? He goes from Mr. Tough Guy to a really really delicate human being."
You laughed a nervous laugh,
"No that's not true. When I'm around him he acts quite normal. We joke around, he does what he would do with any other Glader."
Newt raised a brow, "when have you seen Gally crack a joke with one of the Gladers?"
You bit your lip nervously, "I just don't want to get my hopes up Newt. Maybe you're right, maybe you're not. I don't want to tell him how I feel if all I'm going to do is embarrass myself. Especially in front of Gally. You say he acts different around me but you know how stern he is. It would be extremely embarrassing to have him watch me as if I was some crazy person."
He shook his head. "Just go. If he doesn't like you back, which I'm three hundred and four percent sure isn't true, he would just be stupid for not seeing what great of a person you are." He gave a toothy smile.
You smiled back, "okay fine."
You walked straight to Gally and didn't turn back. If you didn't tell him now, you probably won't ever. He seemed to finally be resting meaning it was a great time to talk to him. His back was facing you so you tapped his shoulder lightly.
"What!?" He turned around and saw you and suddenly lowered his voice "(y/n)..(y/n) sorry I-"
"It's okay. I came here because I need to tell you one thing and one thing only. Don't interrupt me while I tell you okay?"
His eyebrows furrowed but he nodded.
"Okay, Newt convinced me to tell you how I feel about you. So here it goes," You sucked in a breath, "Gally..I-I-"
"You what?"
"I told you not to interrupt me." He bit his lip and nodded muttering a "sorry."
"I like you Gally. And I have for a while now. But I wouldn't dare to tell you because I feel like you don't like me that way. And it would be embarrassing if I told you how I felt and you just scurried away. Then, we wouldn't even have a friendship and I would practically ruin every-" he cut you off by smashing his lips against yours.
Surprised, you did nothing at first. Then you wrapped your arms around him and kissed him back. When you guys finally both pulled away he said,
"I know you told me not to interrupt you but I couldn't help it." His cheeks were flushed and you could tell yours were too.
You smiled and shook your head, "I'm actually glad you interrupted me."
"Shall I do it again?" He laughed.
"Go ahe-" and his lips were on yours. You smiled in the kiss. And he smiled too.
