32. Fights

Peeta's POV

Annie seemed to love her new house and it will be nice to see her and Finn a lot more too. If I'm honest I'm just happy we got it all sorted in time for them both.

I hand Finn over to Annie and me and Katniss take our leave,"hey Annie before we go, there is bread and bits in the kitchen for you that I baked yesterday and there is food in the fridge too."

"Thank you Peeta, for everything." She smiles at me and walks over to Katniss giving her a hug,"and you too Katniss. I really don't know what I'd do without you guys!"

"Silly Annie, you'd be perfectly fine on your own but we just don't want you to feel like you have to be, ever." I see Katniss squeeze her even tighter as she says it. "Now if you need us at any time just ring our house phone straight away don't even give it a second thought, but other wise we will see you in the morning Annie, " Katniss gives Finn a kiss on the nose and he giggles at her, "We will see you tomorrow too little man. Auntie Kat loves you lots."

I walk over to Finn and kiss him too, "I love you too mister and don't you worry you'll learn to love me more than Aunty Kat us boys have to stick together."

Annie laughs at us both, "Go on you two go get yourselves off to bed we'll see you both in the morning." Me and Katniss walk off out the room and down the stairs as we hear Annie shout after us  " and its ok I love you both too!" Katniss laughs as we both said it to Finn but not to Annie, whoops.

I take Katniss's hand in mine as we walk out of Annie's and we decide to pop in to Haymitch's to see how him and Effie are doing as we haven't seen either of them today. Although it has been a bit hectic today.

Haymitch's POV

Effie and I have been arguing again.

I only planned to have one drink but I guess old habits turned one into a bottle. She's spent the last half an hour sat at the bottom of the stairs crying. What I said was out of order mind ....

*flashback*

"Haymitch you spent the whole time in thirteen without a drop of liquor and you come back and I find you've been stashing them?!"  I hadn't been stashing them they were just in the back of a cupboard incase of emergencies.

"Effie call down you're over reacting here really it was just one little drink ... You've known since you met me that I drink so don't start with me over it now as that ship has well and truly sailed!"

"You know what Haymitch you're right I did know you had a problem but I thought that the time in thirteen had done us both some good ... But it seems I was sadly mistaken."

"Oh I'm sorry love I didn't realise I was such a disappointment for you! The last time I checked it was me that got shoved into an arena and made to kill people! It was me who's family was killed for what I did when I was in that arena! And it was me who had to go back to the Capitol every year and relive it! So I'm sorry that I don't begrudge myself a drink and I wish I could but its the only way I can get through the night!" Effie inches away from me at every word I say but she had to hear it, I'm not just a drunk I have my reasons, and they're bloody good ones too.

"Well then Haymitch," her voice cracks and I can see the tears welling up in her eyes, " in disappointment we are perfectly matched." With that she runs off wailing and throws herself on the stairs.

I think I really hurt her this time. I shout in anger and throw my bottle against the wall causing it to shatter across the room, a piece catching me across the cheek.

Good one Haymitch. The one girl who even manages to look at you twice and you do this to her. I guess I really should be left alone to drink myself to death. It would make everyone else's lives so much easier.
