Celina had ridden away from Saint Denis that night likely faster than she had ever pushed her paint before. The shouts of the law men who were supposed to be standing guard echoed off the brick buildings, easily making their way to Celina's ears. She pushed on and on, away from the sounds of gunfire and to safety. She hadn't been spotted then and several small disturbances later around the area she still had not been caught.
The woman was currently relaxing on her bed with her feet up on pillows in the town of Annesburg. She had left Saint Denis a week ago, much to her surprise for one reason or another they didn't have the city on lockdown for more than a couple days from the time she had caused so much destruction. Celina yawned and sat the newspaper she was reading down on her bedside table.
She had woken up hours ago but hadn't found the motivation to remove herself from the bed. Why would she? She needn't leave the cozy little hotel she had come across too soon. She deserved a break after all the noise she had made. To be fair, she had done a heck of a job. No one, no one suspected a thing against the woman although there were flyers up already about her antics.
There were warnings of suspicious activity and that the government was after someone or multiple people who had been attacking areas in the night and blowing up buildings. Because of her recent antics there were many more Pinkertons out east at night from what she had seen. They were keeping an eye out for her, watching for her without having the slightest clue who she was. She prayed her plan was working. The more Pinkertons she drew to her, the more she pulled away from the gang.
Tonight though, it was decided. Tonight would be a break from the hectic week plus she had been away. She missed the gang, missed them so dearly. Maybe she would today go back into Saint Denis and check to see if she had a letter from the gang. It couldn't hurt just to check and she was practically itching to see if they had tried to reach out to her.
It had been a week and three days since she had left the gang. Surely she was going to check for correspondence. There was no doubt that they had been upset by her departure. Dutch, well Dutch had to be awake by now she figured and would have had to be filled in on what was going on. He wanted her back, right? Of course he wanted her back because he loved her. Right? She climbed out of bed with the hope Dutch had love for her in his heart.
Changing out of her newly aquired pajamas the woman slipped back into her usual daytime gun-slinging attire and tied her hair back quickly. Today she would enjoy herself and write her family back if she were to have the good fortune of hearing from them. Truth found it that although she typically kept herself busy, she was lonely without her companions. She was so lonely, so eager to get back to them as soon as she could... as soon as she truly thought it safe.
.............
As it turned out she realized upon checking at the Saint Denis post office, she did have a letter there waiting for her. Apparently it had come in just the other day. Celina with a small and hopeful smile walked over to one of the tables in the corner of the building and took a seat. Her blue eyes took in the handwriting on the envelope, handwriting that sent the butterflies crazy in her stomach.
With a slightly shaking hand, she reached into the envelope and pulled out the letter. She could hardly contain her relief to see the same handwriting on the letter, addressing her by her alias.
Miss Camilla Hargrove,
I hope all has been well with you lately, ever since you had taken off so suddenly.
Please return home my dear. Myself and our children have been bothered endlessly with your absence. I was sick, I understand with my addiction that practically coat us the life we had planned. I am however, getting better. I'll have you know that I am getting back onto my feet again and am regretting every way I ever wronged you.
