Perfect

Macy's POV

I don't know where I'm going but I'm running. Running as fast as I can. How could he do this to me? I was stupid! Why do I have to be so stupid? Why do I have to fall for boys who are so out of my league?! Why did I have to fall for my best friend? I'm so stupid! I hate myself! I just want to scream! He's so annoying!! No he's not. I'm the one who fell for him. I just need to forget...

"Oof" I didn't see where I was going and I ran right into a pup.

"I'm so so sorry!" I say. It's a chocolate lab.

"It okay! You wook wike you've been having a bad day." He says.

"I have. Wait how did you know?" I ask.

"Your cwing" He says. "Wooks wike someone else is hwaving a bad day too." He says pointing behind me. I turn around to see Skye running out of the woods.

"Oh my gosh! That's Skye!" I say.

"Hey! I know you two! I saw you two at the pwool."

"What? Oh no, you probably saw my brother." I say.

"Oh"

"Umm nice talking to you but I got to run!" I say and run after Skye. I quickly catch up to her and match her pace.

"Where are we going?" I ask. She looks out of breath. She slows down to a walk.

"We're going some where the boys don't want us to." She says after she catches her breath.

"Perfect" I say.

We walk to the beach and Skye jumps in the water.

"Really? Water? I hate water!" I say.

"Maybe you aren't so much like Marshall" She laughs.

"I'm nothing like Marshall once you get to know me." I say. She laughs again.

"I doubt it. Now come on it's just a little water." She says. I step in 1 paw at a time. It's a requirement to learn how to swim at the house. Even though I hated it, I actually did it for Cade, it just happened to be his - and Chase's and Josh's- birthday.

I start swimming after her. The thing about being a fast runner is you usually don't see the back of people's heads. This is a bit of a first.

"Come on we're almost there!" She says.

"Why is swimming so hard?!" I pant, I never pant! She laughs at me, again.

"You need to work more muscles than just the running ones." She says.

We get to a beautiful island. Cade would love this. No. This day is not about Cade. It's about me.

"Come through here!" She says. We go through a wall of vines.

"Skye! I'm speechless! And the rising sun makes the waterfall so... beautiful!"

"Chase showed me" She says with a far off look. "I mean, it's a place Marshall and Chase don't want us to be." She says snapping to her senses. We walk down a small stair case-like rock formation that leads us to a sort of pool.

"I'm not going in there." I say.

"Yes you are!" She says pushing me into the lake.

"It's warm!!" I shout.

"I know! Isn't it romantic!" She says.

"Oh yes! I wish... you know what? I don't wish Cade were here! He doesn't deserve to know the way I used to think about him. If the way I thought about him could be nature, this would be it. But of corse I'm not good enough for him. But Elizabeth, Elizabeth can give him what he wants. Me? I'm just average. Not beautiful or perfect or charming. No. I wasn't blessed. I was blessed with fast legs that can carry me away from him in a blink of an eye." I say getting out of the water and laying on the sand.

"I guess I might as well get it out now. Sure, you know I like Chase and all but he's too... tough guy, for love. I can see why, he's trying to be his brother. I know something happened with Chase and Marshall, but I'm too scared to ask them. I guess my whole life I've been shushed and pushed around and waken all over that I knew this day would come, I take an interest in a guy and he likes someone else." Skye says laying next to me.

"To be honest, your the only person I've ever opened up to." I say.

"Same, I think this is the 'girl time' my mother used to talk about, I would never know though I've always been with boys my whole life." Skye says.

"I wouldn't know either, I've spent my life with Chase, Marshall, Josh and Cade." I say.

"I wish I was the most beautiful girl on earth" She says.

"Oh, and the skinniest." I add.

"Yeah, then I might actually have a chance with Chase." She says.

We lay down and take a nap.

"I swear, if Skye and Macy are here I will slit Skye's throat." That's Chases voice. I see Skye wake up to. The sun is right above our heads so it might be 12 or 1.

"Do we hide?" I whisper.

"No, I want to see the look on his face." Skye whispers back.

I hear wrestling vines. "Macy would love it here!" I hear Cade say. I feel a blush.

Their heads peek around the corner.

"SKYE!" Chase yells. "MARSHALL AND I TOLD YOU NOT TO COME HERE!!" He says running to Skye. Skye ducks to try to save herself from the incoming German Shepard but to Skye and I's surprise he hugs her. "I was so worried about you." He says to her.

I turn to see where Cade was. He's still sitting in the entrance. I walk slowly to Cade.

"I'm so sorry." He says. "And I know you won't believe me because of your strong-willed head, but I hate Elizabeth, and I told her to tell her dad that you and I are never going back there again." He says looking at me with a sincere face.

"But..." I start.

"Don't worry. I'll protect you from the scary world." He says pulling me into him. I open my mouth to say thank you but he puts his paw on it. "If, you promise you'll never run away from me again."

I don't even have to think about it.

"I promise."
