What happened?

Ryder's POV

~Earlier that day~

"Oh my gosh" She says stoping in her tracks with her mouth half way to the floor.

"Come on we're going to be..." And that's when I saw it. Chris and Sarah making out in the hallway. Katie all of a sudden grabs my hand and kisses me on the cheek as we start to walk past them. My face turns bright red and I think so does hers, maybe that's just anger. Chris turns to look at us then keeps kissing Sarah. When we get past them I let go of her hand.

"What was that?" I ask as I walk her to her class, my class is very close by so I have time to talk.

"What?" She asks innocently with a grin. I am not amused.

"We both know I'm not stupid. I get it, you still have feelings for him. I'm smart enough to know I'm being used." She looks at her feet unsure what to say.

"Umm... I'm not using you, because I don't want him back." She says.

"But you want to get back at him?"

"Well... yeah, but"

"It's okay, I should've known." I say walking away. I turn the corner and walk into my next class.

First period dragged in to second. Emily and Haley had a huge smiles on her faces when I walked in.

"OMG. She kissed you!?" Emily blurts out.

"How do you two always know things the minute they happen?"

"We know people" Haley says.

"Hey Haley and Emily" Chris smiles sitting down in his seat. Then he frowns at me.

"You forgot Ryder" Emily points out. Man that girl is dumb. Chris just stares at Emily.

"Yeah, so any ways" Haley says "Did you kiss her back?!"

"Who?" Chris asks.

"Katie!" Emily says.

"No" I say.

Haley and Emily gasp. "Why not?" Emily asks.

"Reasons" I didn't want Chris to know.

"It's because all she wants is me" Chris says. Emily and Haley's mouth drop.

"Oh my gosh! Is that true?!" Haley says looking at me.

"Yes" I admit.

"He said yes! I knew it!" Chris shouts. "I am so getting back with her!"

"But what about Sarah?" I ask.

"Psshhhh. I got her for the same reason she got you! I just picked a stupid one so that she would never figure me out."

"Your a real jerk and Katie would be stupid to get back with you!" I argue.

"She would be better off with me than with you!" Chris laughed.

"Oh please! Don't flatter your self." The bell rings signaling the end of our conversation.

School went on normally until after 5th period. I saw Chris turn the corner with a red face built up with anger and his fists clenched. I moved out of his way so he could get through but to my surprise he came up to me and punched me right in the face knocking me backwards and landing right in my elbow.

"What the heck Chris?!" I say getting up. He brings his fist up and a blonde haired girl steps in front of me taking my blow right in the eye.

"Katie!" I say as she bends over holding her eye. "Are you okay!?" She nods but I still hear a drip fall on the floor.
