THIS IS WEIRD

20 1 3

so i posted a rayllum oneshot that i wrote after season 2 in astrophillia on the 16th
it's 600 words, i cane up with it right before i feel asleep, wrote it in like 1 hour the day morning, and then posted as soon as i finished (so my point is i really didn't spend that much time on it)

and i cross-posted it on archive of our own because i have the free time and wanted to experiment and see if my work will do well on there.

the first three chapters of Invisible Crown are up on there and they did really really poorly

i got ~250 hits and 8 kudos, which is not all that great but still honestly better than i thought
usually u want a 10:1 ratio
and for non-ao3 people:
kudos=votes but you can only do it once per story, hits=views but again one per story

and

uh

excuse me but uh hey what

excuse me but uh hey what

this is as of the 17th

guys

do u understand this

this is like getting 121 votes on a wattpad chapter

and almost 1000 reads

121 VOTES AND ALMOST 1000 READS

IN A DAY

WHAT??????

WHY DID THIS HAPPEN

HOW DID THIS HAPPEN????

i genuinely don't understand WHYYYY

I have NEVER gotten this much feedback in a day. Like, actually. I've never blown up so quickly. Invisible crown has been in the works since June 23rd, 2017. It took me foreVER to get to 1k reads!!! At most about 7 months. IC had 1770 on Nov 14 2017, and it definitely had multiple chapters then.

so like

getting 1k

in a day

is

WEIRD

it kind of makes sense though.....

1- there are literally 88 callum/rayla fics on ao3 out of the 582 total works (15% of works) the people are STARVED (compare that to Starco, which is 512/1403, so 36%)
2- 1 was the 3rd post-season 2 callum/rayla fic to be published, 2nd if you discount the Portuguese one
3- it's a oneshot that takes place in canon, it's angst, AND i used dialogue as the title and the description. Which I think are very very click-able imo.
4- also a lot more people started shipping them after season 2 as far as i can tell (i mean i'm one of them)

Sooooo many people (like me) went to ao3 looking for content after season 2, and I had 'season 2 spoilers' written all over my tags and description, so they clicked it!!

Annnd now we're here.

So, like.... what do I do about this?

I really want to write more rayllum oneshots, and I guess my audience is at ao3?

This is still really weird. As i was writing this, I got up to 1032 views and 126 kudos, like WHAT THE DHJSJSJXHVDBSHS i'm this is wild -

ahhh i'll figure out what i'll do later. not leaving wattpad, tho. (not until ao3 makes a mobile app 👀)
