Chapter 74 - The Reunion

We walked for a while and that's when I heard the gun shot. We started running as my mind sped to the worst possible scenario. What if Carl was shot again? What if it was in the head this time? What if I get there and he is a walker? What if? What if? What if?

So many shots. The entire group could be dead now for all we know. We raced to the prison. We were still about a mile away. The shots continued and then they stopped suddenly. It was over. Everyone was dead.

We finally made it to the prison and we saw Rick outside the gates struggling with a few walkers. I pulled my gun out and ran as fast as I could towards the front entrance which now didn't have a gate. I saw my brothers killing the walkers and I ran full speed ahead. There was a truck in the center of the yard and I saw one of our own pick up trucks driving over to get Hershel. The woman, who I now know to be Michonne thanks to Merle, was killing walkers left and right with her katana. The started to drive around and I was running as fast as I could. They sped ahead and I started waving my arms and I saw Glenn in the front. His face changed and he quickly stopped the truck. I jumped into the back and started shooting the walkers. Michonne knocked on the back window to tell me to stop and I just looked to see my brothers were successfully helping Rick.

I jumped down from the truck before it stopped and I stood there. Everyone stopped and looked at me except Carl who was closing the gates. Carol started crying slightly and took me into a hug. Tears escaped my eyes and I squeezed her back. Beth came over and gave me a hug and so did Maggie after her father was safe. I went over to Hershel and kissed his cheek and hugged him. Glenn, last but not least, came over and picked me up in a hug. I laughed slightly and that I when I saw Carl's back go rigid.

He turned to look at me and a few tears escaped my eyes while I watched him. He slowly started walking over to me and then full speed ran at me and jumped on me in a hug. Everyone smiled and laughed slightly. He almost knocked me over as he hugged me. I started crying and I heard him crying too. I rubbed his back as we hugged. We hugged for a good 2 or 3 minutes before we noticed everyone wasn't smiling at us anymore. They were starting to look into the yard. I saw walkers streaming in from the main entrance gates and then I saw my brothers and Rick looking back at us and I knew they were safe. We all moved into the cell block quickly just incase there were still men out there.

I went up to my cell as they locked Merle in the other room. He stood at the door while they consulted each other about the matter at hand. Carl came upstairs as I dropped my bag down on the floor. I could hear them discussing whether or not to leave. I just got back here. I don't wanna leave yet. And besides, we know the governor is coming either way. Better make it so I can take his other eye for trying to kill my family, both blood relatives and non.

I fell back down into my bunk and my back cracked but it felt so good. I hadn't slept on quality anything in a few days and it was starting to get to me. Carl smiled slightly as I looked over at him.

I grabbed his hand and started tracing his fingers. He kneeled close to my bunk and I smiled. We stayed like that for a few hours after we heard Hershel scream at Rick. Carl eventually had to leave and find him dad and I decided to take a nap.

I was awaken by Carl. He came in and got my brothers and Rick. He came into my cell after and shook my arm lightly.

"Andrea and Gabe are here." He said and I opened my eyes wide. I shot up and changed after Carl left and grabbed my gun from the holster and ran outside. I saw Rick push Andrea against the fence and I saw Daryl had Gabe up against it as well. I ran back into the cell blocks as I saw them approaching. I stood and waited for them to come in and Rick led them both in. Andrea went straight for Carol and I stood and waited for Gabe to see me. He turned slightly and I caught his eye.
