We woke up pretty early the next morning. Apparently, after I fell asleep Rick decided that we would have to to hand to hand with the walkers inside the main entrance gates. They would have to seal another gate to keep walkers out and then kill them all without guns because we are low on ammo. Myself, Carl, Beth, Lori, Carol, and Hershel will be outside, killing the walkers through the fence to try to make a small dent or something. I was really nervous for my brother to go in there even though he had his crossbow.

Hershel opened the gate and they were off. They stayed in formation killing all the walkers that could. We killed as many as were there and then they started to go for our group. Me being me, grabbed Carl's silenced gun and shot one that was sneaking up behind Maggie. I gave it back after that and we just waiting because we couldn't see them anymore.

They all came back into view but they were talking about something. They then approached a door and went in. It felt like forever while we waited but they finally came back out and told us to follow them. We walked into a cell block I think and it had a small little cafe place and a bunch of rooms through another door. It was actually pretty nice.

We all picked rooms and I went upstairs right near the stairs that my brother wanted because he didn't want to sleep in a "cage". Carl decided to bunk with me. I took the top bunk because I was used to sleeping in high places like trees and stuff while I was on my way to Atlanta with my group. What I didn't tell him is that, I used to do it even before the apocalypse just to escape my mom.

I climbed up to my bed and it was actually pretty comfortable.

"Carl, it's actually a lot more comfortable then you would think. Here, come look." I held out my hand so he could climb up. He jumped up and sat down.

"Oh, yea, it actually is pretty comfy. Oh, I could get used to this." Carl said as he leaned back on my bed.

"Yea, just not on my bunk mister." I said as I poked his side trying to get him down. We ended up poking and then eventually pushing each other, seeing who would fall off first. T brought in a mattress from one of the other rooms because the bottom bunk didn't have one and we told him to leave it on the floor and that we would do it later. He just looked up at us and shook his head and walked out smiling. We continued our little war until I pushed Carl hard enough to push him off the bed. The only problem is he took me with him.

We both fell to the floor. Thank god we had T leave the mattress there or it would have really hurt. It still kinda hurt and the thud brought Daryl and Rick running up the stairs to the door only to find us laying next to each other on the floor laughing. Daryl just shook his head and walked away but Rick smiled a little and went back downstairs.

We all took a little nap and then the guys went to go find the armory while the women and children and elders, aka Hershel, stayed behind. Carl and I basically just stayed in our room while they were gone and when they came back we helped organize all the weapons they had. There wasn't much there but it was still something.

All the suitable adults started suiting up with all the prison armor to get ready to explore the prison for food and medicine and everything. I was looking at the flash bangs and grenades they found when I saw Carl out of the corner of my eye. I turned to see him playing with a prison riot helmet and it just fell right off his head. He looked at it and looked up at me and smiled. I laughed at him and my brother looked at him and me and raised his eyebrows but didn't say anything.

"You won't be needing that. I need you to stay put." Rick said to Carl as he took the helmet away from him.

"Your kidding?" Carl asked, obviously disappointed he wouldn't be exploring.

"We don't know what's in there. If something goes wrong, you could be the last man standing. I need you to handle things here." Rick explained. I looked over at my brother and he was already looking at me. I smiled and gave him a slight nod and he smirked back. He walked over to me and I quickly hugged him and his hand was on my back. I could tell he was worried too but he wasn't gonna show it to anyone but me.

"Alright." I heard Carl say and everyone got ready to go. Once they were gone, I stood next to Carl as he closed and locked the door. I watched as they all disappeared. My nerves started to kick in.

What if that was the last time I saw any of them?
