We started to load up the truck. Shane put all the guns in the back of Daryl's pickup and I climbed in because all the real seats were full. We drove down the road a bit and we finally came to a stop near a fence that was lined with bottles. I jumped down and walked next to Katy and Eve. They decided they should learn how to shoot too. Parker and Cody were pushing each other around and Shane came over and yelled at them and they stopped. I snickered and they grinned back.
We all got in a line and Shane told us the basics. I tuned him out and made sure my gun was ready to fire. When I heard the first shot I quickly turned and shot my three bottles in a matter of about 5 seconds. My friends all looked astonished and Daryl was standing behind me and smirking. I smiled and went over to Katy and Eve to help as Gabe helped the boys.
Katy was pretty good but Eve didn't like the gun. I asked if she wanted to learn how to throw knifes. She smiled and said yes. I pulled her over to a neglected part of the fence and carved an x into the wood. I showed her the basic technique and demonstrated for her and she looked interested. I gave her my knife and she started to throw them. She didn't really have good power but she had good aim. She would hit the bud of the knife to the middle of the x almost every time.
I demonstrated again and I explained how hard to throw and I noticed that almost everyone had stopped shooting and was now watching me throw my knifes. I smiled at them and Shane called everyone back to practicing. He sent a glare my way and I smiled. I watched everyone as the shot and Andrea was particularly good and so was Carl but that is expected of a son of a sheriff. I smiled as he hit the target and looked my way like he just caught Bigfoot. I laughed and he went back to shooting and Eve finally got the hang of it. She was now hitting the x or near the x with the actual knife every time. I demonstrated one more time and hit it directly in the center of the x.
I saw Shane walk over to me and I told Eve to keep trying. He pulled me aside.
"I want you to go to the advanced training session when everyone goes back to camp. I wanna see how good you really are with that gun and maybe I'll even test ya on your knifes." He said with obvious detest. I nodded and went back to helping Eve and Katy wanted to try too. I could see that maybe her weapon of choice should stay a gun because she lacks power and accuracy. She smiled and nodded when I told her this and she went back to shooting.
Finally practice was over and I got in the car with Shane and Andrea. We drove farther into the forest and Shane tied up a piece of tree to a higher branch. He told me to take out my gun so I did. He swung the branch hard and I knew this would be easy.
"Ya get three shots. Then I wanna see you throw them knifes on your belt." Shane said and I nodded.
BOOM! One shot down and there was a tiny hole on the bark. I smiled at this. This is where I would aim my next two shots.
BOOM! Two shots down and two holes in the bark.
BOOM! Three shots down and there was a triangle of shots on the bark.
Shane took the bark and examined it. He raised his eyebrows and nodded his head in approval. He then made the bark swing even higher and told me to use my knifes.
Three knifes were stuck in the tree in a matter of minutes. I didn't miss once. Shane was fascinated on how I managed to do that.
Andrea was next and she was slightly worse than me. Shane tried to intimidate her and he blurted out that the wood was the walker that got Amy. That stung me and I knew it would be ten times worse to Andrea. She walked away and he pulled me to the car.
Shane drove the car next to Andrea and pleaded with her to get in the car. I was sitting in the back seat as he sped in front of her and got out of the car. He apologized and said something about Sophia. Andrea nodded and got in the car.
"I got a lead on where Sophia might be and we are gonna check it out. Now, you can either come with us or we can drop u off. Which is it gonna be? Shane said and I just nodded.
I watched every turn we had made from that tree and I already knew how to get back from there. We stopped at this big community and it was full of houses. Shane and Andrea decided to go through one house I wanted to go through another so I ditched them and went to the next house.
There was nothing much in there. I searched for any sign at all that Sophia had been close to this house and there was nothing. I found a few knifes in the kitchen and I decided to take them because I knew that Eve would want her own knife collection because she is no good with a gun. I heard gun shots outside and I ran to the front door but there was about five walkers in front of it and there was no way I was strong enough to push past them. I ran to the back door to find it was in the same situation.
I ran upstairs to the bedroom and slammed my gun into it, breaking the glass. I crawled through onto the roof and saw Shane and Andrea shooting the walkers. They ran for the car and I saw Andrea stop and shoot some of the remaining walkers. The road was clear for now and I climbed down the gutter so I could get to the car. When I finished climbing down I turned to see the walkers cleared and something else a little more interesting.
The car was gone.
