Let's just say that in order to get to someone you have to hit them where it hurts. Well mission accomplished." ~Nicollet

(Unedited)

It was Monday. Everyone hates Mondays. Except this Monday of course. It was my last day as a 17 year old. Tomorrow I will be considered an adult in the human world. In the Werewolf world I will be of the mating age. I could feel my wolf beneath the surface of my skin. She was antsy, knowing she would find her mate. He must be over eighteen, cause she was telling me he would be there. Tomorrow at the giant party the girls I know consider my best friends decided to throw me.

Nervousness was an understatement. I was gonna find my mate, I already knew it. The fact was I never made a good impression on males. They were always trying to be more dominant and I always had a problem with it. It felt like mates weren't even equal. The male always told the female what to do. What if my mate did that?

"Hey Nicollet? Are you alright?" My blurred vision suddenly focused. A hand was waving in front of my face. Lightning speed I grabbed that hand.

"What?" I blinked, Amilee, Jasmine, Kayliee, and Sammi where all standing in front of me. Concern was written on their faces. It was Amilee's hand that had been waving in my face.

"You've been staring at the wall with a complete look of happiness, turned sad on your face." Sammi explained.

"Oh." My voice came out so emotionless it scared me.

"What's up girl? You're not acting normal." Jasmine felt my face, checking for a fever we both know wasn't there. "Are you sick?"

Am I sick? I really didn't know. Even my wolf was being unusually quiet. It suddenly dawned on me as to why. Run.

"I can't do this." I sprung from me chair, pushing my way past the four girls who were all trying to get me. My senses where completely out of wack. On second I could hear everything, the next I couldn't hear a thing. The door didn't seem close enough.

Grabbing for the doorknob, hoping to open it. The doorknob kept slipping from my hands. Looking down I saw something that terrified me, claws. My nails where extending. That's when the tingles started.

No, no, this can't happen I can't shift.

Putting all I had, I rammed into the door. It flung off it's hinges. Fresh air hit me, it didn't do the good I hoped it would. The mansion was surrounded by the forest. All I could smell was the musky scent of the forest. Which just edged my wolf on more.

Stand down wolf. I mentally yelled, but she was too close to the surface. Scratching, biting, clawing. I ran deeper into the forest. If I was to shift I had to be far from everyone.

My legs began to protest. I was fighting everything my wolf was throwing at me. Which included my wolf speed. Making my legs work over time.

A sharp pinch ran up my leg just before I fell. My forearms blocked my face from hitting the dirt. Sounds came rushing at me, a sign that my sharpened wolf hearing had worked through my defenses. My eyes burned as they began to glow, muscles tensed.

"Nicollet!" They were closing in on me. Any minute my friends would arrive. I struggled, trying to get to my feet, but to no avail.

"What's happening?" The voice was frightened. I gripped the forest floor. My body thrashing as both me and my wolf were struggling to control it.

"She's fighting it." Beta, beta Liam was here.

"Why? Why is she fighting it?"

"I don't know." Liam was trying to calm the four girls that had followed me out. "Nicollet, do you hear me? Don't fight it." His footsteps where getting closer.
