"Lets just say I've heard handcuffs and whipped cream can be very promising." ~NicolletSUBMIT ALPHA #18
"They're journals you see, apparently all the golden wolves kept one." I dumped the contents of this bag onto the bed. All nine leather bound diary's flopped out. I lunched myself onto the bed, grabbing the first journal.
The bed shifted as Kane sank down onto the bed. His side brushed against mine as he laid on his stomach next to me. He picked up one of the books, feeling the leather cover. "Have you read them?"
I opened the first book. "I started this one, but I couldn't get past the first entry. It was so weird, when I started reading it was like I had been sucked in. I saw it all happening in my head."
"That's strange." He muttered looking down at the book.
"I know," I began, trying to rack my brain for the words to describe my experience. "I mean I could feel everything too it was like I was ther-"
Kane cut me off. "Not that, all though that is weird and we will come back to that, but I'm talking about this." He trusted one of the diaries into my hand.
It had been opened to a random page and as I scanned over it I didn't see anything wrong. "What are you talking about?" I looked over at him confused.
He had his eyebrows raised as he looked at me. His eyes searching mine. "You don't see it?"
"What are you talking about?" I looked back at the books staring at it intensely. Did I miss something?
"The language." He pointed at the book again. "The books are not written in English. Honestly they aren't written in any language I've ever seen."
I was so confused. My eyes scanned the page at least a hundred times. I read everything perfectly. I saw regular, everyday, English writing. "You are telling me you can't read this?"
He studied my face for a second. His eyes scanning my expression for any sign that I was joking. Eventually he sighed, "I can't. It's written in what I would call holographic. Weird symbols all over the page. It must be a Golden Wolf thing."
"Like a secret language." That's so cool. My hands gripped the journal tightly to me. "I've gotta ask mom about this."
As I lunged up to grab my phone sitting on the table next to the bed, a finger looped through my belt loop pulling me back down. I landed back against a hard body with a thud.
"Nicollet, it's close to Midnight. Don't bug your mom at this hour. She's either asleep or having quality time with your father." A shudder ran through me when he said that. Gross, really didn't need to think of my parents getting freaky.
"Fine," I muttered, leaning my back against his stomach. His arm casually draped itself over my waist. "I guess I'll just have to read it to you."
The front page read Athea Marie Falcous, it was the same diary I started last time. The very first Golden Wolf to ever exist. I gotta say, I do not envy her.
I am ashamed to admit, I ran away. The Alpha had tried to force me into mating with him. But he wasn't the one. I knew because his real mate was standing not three feet from me. I saw somethings, coils of sorts, sticking out from everyone's heart. They were going in every which direction.
I must be insane, but I think they are mate bonds. What links us to each other.
My search for the elders is not going as well as I had hoped. I need answers. They are forever elusive creatures. Do they even exist in this world? An old, wise wolf had told be they live in the mountain tops, close to were this realm meets the realm of all creation.
