Trigger Warning: Mentions of Death

Susan shuffled awkwardly next to her boyfriend, Alexander Hamilton Jr. Yep. Her father was going to be furious. Her parents were Thomas Jefferson and his wife Maria Jefferson, maiden name Lewis. Though technically Susan could pull the 'You're not even my real dad' card since she came from her mother's previous marriage. She never knew her real father. she'd only known her step-father, James never let him adopt her though she's been told her dad's tried his hardest. Her name was forever Susan Reynolds, or maybe she'd be Susan Hamilton after this. Well, she was just sixteen.

She shook her head, she'd figure out the details later, "Lex?" She looked up at Alexander, he was the son of the man who had wronged her mother and who was the bitter rival of her father. Yet, she couldn't stop herself. Alexander Hamilton, Alex's father obviously. He had shamed her mother publicly to get at her father who was a strenuous political enemy.

"Yeah?" Alexander bent down to kiss her forehead, they were in his apartment making pancakes. Well, trying, Susan kept purposefully messing him up. While she was sixteen he was eighteen, just two years, and he had moved out and had a job at Pizza Hut since he was focusing on his school. He was currently going to King's College like his brother, Susan had met him two years ago but only twice before a car accident took Philip Hamilton's life, his sister Angelica Hamilton consequentially lost her mind and still lives with their parents.

Susan sighed and turned to him, "Can you take your eyes off the pancakes? For a second? This is serious." She said and reached over, putting a hand on Alex's shoulder, "Please? For me?" She got on her tiptoes to kiss his cheek.

"Of course babe," He replied quickly. He turned the over tops off and moved everything away from the top so nothing would catch fire, then he turned to her and took her hands, "What is it? You have my full and undivided attention." He told her quietly, unsure if it would spook her.

Susan smiled warmly, "Thanks..." She sighed before holding onto him, "Alexander I-I'm afraid and-shh-" He tried to interrupt to reassure her but she held a finger to his lips, "Shhhh let me finish. It isn't for what you think." She dropped her hand and looked down, "Alex I-I'm pregnant and it's yours obviously..."

Alex took the news and Susan couldn't meet his eyes until he took her shoulders, "D-Do you want to keep it?" He asked and she looked at him in surprise, "I mean...I mean abortion is an option."

"No," Susan bit the inside of her cheek, "I don't want to do that. it sounds stupid but I don't." She couldn't keep eye contact any longer and looked away, "I want this baby but I'm scared. What will my parents think? And....And what do you?"

Susan took a few moments before looking up into his eyes only to see him tearing up, "S-Susan I want this baby too. Just me and you with a child, it sounds magical. My father's going to be furious though I know my mother will understand. It's scary, I know, but I-I support you." He bent down and kissed Susan's still flat stomach making her redden, "Because I love you." He stood back up and pulled her to his chest, kissing her passionately.

Susan felt herself crying but had to pull back, "We-We have to tell my father." She said quietly, her head going back down though this time she leaned into his chest, "Will you come with me?" She asked.

"Nothing could stop me," Alexander replied earnestly. Susan smiled and slipped her hand into his, no matter what happened here, she had Alex's shoulder to lean on. He was her rock and now he would be her guiding light.

Susan and Alex ate before getting dressed, Susan made sure to wear a loose hanging shirt for safety. She and Alex kept reassuring each other before finally departing to the Jefferson residence, Susan in the lead.

She got them inside and had her parents summoned, sitting down in the parlor. Alex set a tray down and made her tea, "I um heard it was healthier for..the baby..." He told her quietly, handing her the teacup and saucer.

Susan, however, had frozen in horror, there in the doorway stood her mother and father, both having heard exactly what Alex had said. Alexander turned and his face drained of color, Susan stood up, "M-Mom d-dad it-it's not-I just..." She didn't know how to admit it but when Alex took her hand she felt more confident, "O-Okay it's exactly what it looks like." She mumbled, shuffling awkwardly.

"Susan!" They both shouted and she flinched, however, her mother continued the sentence, "Pregnant? And you're sure?"

"Of course I'm sure, otherwise I wouldn't have ever let you two know about me and Alexander seeing as you hate him for no reason! He is nothing like his father, I promise! He's sweet, kind, reassuring, gentle-"

"-I'm sure you know exactly how gentle he is," Her father spat, Susan blushed heavily at the insinuation, "My own daughter! Pregnant at sixteen!" He shouted, laying the disappointment on heavy.

"Don't sound so upset," Susan muttered angrily, glaring daggers at him, "It's not like you're my father anyway." She had never once told her step-father that but now she couldn't help it.

"Susan!" She was shocked to find that not only had her mother gasped but her boyfriend too. She looked away, barely catching Thomas's heartbroken and crestfallen expression.

"I'm pregnant," She said finally after a long awkward silence. She looked up and grabbed Alex's hand, "You get to decide what that means for you later. I'm going to be a mother and I'm moving in with Alex. Do we all at least agree to this?"

It took a half hour but Thomas finally spoke after they all sat down for tea, "Susan Reynolds." He looked at her and Susan was almost horrified at the fact that it made her want to cry, "You are a spectacular, young, proper lady. I-I can't say I'm not disappointed, I thought you'd be smarter than this. However, you're taking responsibility and I...I just want to be your fa-father." He held his face and Susan jumped up.

"Oh crap, I..." She ran over and hugged her dad finally, "I-I know. I know. I'm a terrible, horrid, good for nothing, disappointment and I-"

"-No you're none of those," He hugged back, "You're my daughter." He told her and kissed her forehead, breathing shakily, "I just want to be a better father."

"You're already the best," Susan told him, holding him tighter as she began to cry, "The absolute best. I love you I-I just want you to like Alex too."

Thomas sighed shakily and stood up, pulling Susan to his side as Maria stood up, her tea in hand, "Alex I...take good care of her." Thomas held his hand out as a peace offering.

Alex smiled broadly and shook his future father-in-law's hand, "You can bet your life I will. Even if it kills me."
