Slight season 4 spoilers. Sorry. This is very much angst.

"Lance," Keith called to the new red paladin.

"Keith!" Lance exclaimed once he heard his voice, running up to him and hugging him tightly. "Where've you been?"

It had been a week or two since Keith left Voltron, which bothered Lance more than he thought he would have.

"Around," answered Keith, hugging him back softly. "The Blade of Mamora needs me, after all."

Lance burrowed his nose into the cloth that covered Keith's shoulder and inhaled his scent. It was a scent that he had greatly missed.

But I need you more.

Keith stayed for dinner with the Paladins of Voltron, sitting in his usual seat next to Lance.

Keith had a friendly conversation with Shiro and Pidge, listening to some of Allura's talking. She kind of annoyed him, but she could be nice sometimes.

"You're awfully quiet, Lance," Allura said.

"Yeah, is there something bothering you?" asked Shiro.

"No, I'm fine. Thank you." Lance smiled at them before looking back over at Keith who looked at him worriedly before returning to his meal.

Lance took glances at Keith while he ate, watching Keith's fork journey from his plate to his mouth.

Once finished, Keith stood and excused himself from the table. "Thanks for the meal."

He then turned and left through the automatic doors.

Please don't go.

Keith's sweat glistened on his pale skin as the dim lighting shined upon them. Lance felt his pain escape him for just a moment as they held each other, Keith's movements providing the both of them pleasure. Whispered "I love you"s and sweet nothings were exchanged, only to be lost to the sounds of their heavy breaths and light moans.

Lance exhaled his sorrows as he felt his climax reach him. Keith released inside of him before pulling out and leaving only remnants of their love behind. The dark-haired boy fell to Lance's side on his bed; the two boys waited for their breath to catch up with them, both feeling completely spent.

As time continued on, they both submerged into their deep subconsciousness, basking in the warmth of each other's company.

As the night retreated to day, the only thing missing being the brilliant sun, Keith slipped into his clothes, pressed a light kiss to a sleeping Lance's lips, and departed from his past. He loved Lance, he always would, but he had something to save. He had something to prove his worth. He had a duty that was bigger than himself. He whispered softly to Lance, another declaration of love, before he left, leaving Lance and Voltron behind.

Stay with me.
