Lance couldn't sleep. Again. He kept tossing and turning, not finding a comfortable position to lie in. He hated those nights, where the room is too hot and stuffy, when he couldn't find the right position to lie in, or when it was too warm with the blanket on, but too cold with it off, and even putting a leg out of the blanket was not enough. It was one of those unfortunate nights where it had all three of the inconvenient traits. One of the things he missed most about Earth was that if he was hot, or he couldn't sleep, he could just get up out of bed and open a window, letting the chilly, refreshing night breeze envelop him, filling him with a feeling of peace and tranquility. Or, the calming sound of the rain falling from the skies, lulling him into the same nirvana-like feeling. However, Lance was in space, and there was no night breeze, no calming rain, no nothing but blurred stars and planets, which seemed like an everyday sight now.
Eventually, he got up from his bed and crept towards the door, which slid open louder than he expected as he stepped out, it sliding closed behind him. He knew exactly where he was going as he walked down the lit hallway, hoping the sensor lights wouldn't wake everyone up. He snuck over to Keith's room, seeing Keith was in the same situation he was in, for he was tossing and turning on his bed. The door slid open and Lance walked in, approaching the bed. He picked up the blanket to slide under, causing Keith to turn around again and see that Lance was crawling into his bed.
A small smile appeared on the red paladin's lips as he moved over to let Lance on, silently hoping that Lance wouldn't steal all the blankets, as he did all the nights they had slept in the same bed, which always ended up a battle for the blanket, and the loser would just cuddle into the other for warmth, which secretly was Keith's favorite part. So, maybe he didn't dread that blanket battle.
The blue paladin wrapped his arm around Keith with a small smile and a sigh of contentment. Keith wore a matching smile and turned his back to Lance, and that's how they stayed for the rest of the night. To be honest, it was the best night sleep Lance had had in years.
