The morning after the incident at the Pyrite Pub was rather odd yet unsurprising. For many, life went on as though what happened were the most normal thing in the world. A few thugs come in, pick a fight with a random stranger, destroy public property and then leave after getting the snot beat out of them. That ranked right up there on the list of common happenings such as theft and the occasional gang bang. It was a wonder the Police got any sleep at all. Wes sat in a booth of his own, sipping on a Rawst Berry margarita. Being of age, he needed something to take the edge off the stress that was bombarding him. He had already registered for the colosseum battles earlier that morning, so that was another thought weighing on his mind.
Just what was that back there? Wes thought as he reached down and took Meditite's ball off his belt and simply looked at it. He attacked me as though I were his opponent. That's not normal. Pokémon don't just attack someone without an order. It was almost like it was still wild. Still, Meditite aren't hostile. I need to figure out what's wrong with him. But I'm afraid to take him out. What do I do? Wes thought, placing the ball back on his belt.
"Hey, you okay there Wes?" Came Kai's voice as she and Willie stood in front of his table.
Wes took another sip of his drink before rubbing his temples. "Aside from being attacked and nearly killed by a Psychotic Meditite, which for whatever reason, I caught, I'm just fine. You?" Wes retorted, an unamused expression on his face.
"Sheesh, just tryin' to see how you're doing. We weren't exactly excluded from that incident either. We were nearly blown up," Kai shot back.
"I know that Kai. I'm well aware that we could have all been killed yesterday. What I wanna know is, why did hardly any of Umbreon and Espeon's attacks do anything to it? He took several shots and still kept coming back. It was like it wasn't even affected," Wes muttered, taking another sip of his drink before kicking back.
"That did seem strange," Kai said, taking a seat with Willie. "I couldn't figure it out either. I've seen how strong your Pokémon are, and for Meditite to be able to take that much punishment is unheard of." Kai sighed.
Wes ran his hands through his hair before letting out an exasperated sigh. "What's even more strange, was the black aura around him. It felt, evil...suffocating..." Wes thought as a shiver ran down his spine.
"Black aura? What are you talking about?" Kai inquired.
"You mean you couldn't see it?" Wes asked with a raised brow. "It was pretty obvious to me."
"Are you sure you weren't seeing things, and also hearing things? You were talking to yourself out there..." Willie stated with a nervous laugh.
"I wasn't talking to myself...I heard someone talking to me. There was this voice in my head telling me to 'open my eyes,' which was ridiculous because they were open. But it kept telling me to do it. Then it told me to look at Meditite. As if I hadn't been introduced to him at an up close and personal level already. So I did...and that's when I saw it. A black aura like a consuming fire, surrounding Meditite. I knew there was something off the moment he set foot on the battlefield. And I was right," Wes explained.
The table was silent for a while before Willie decided to speak up. "Are you sure about all that? I mean, he could have just been overly aggressive," Willie said nervously.
Wes shook his head. "No...when he first appeared, there was hatred in his eyes. He appeared calm, but in his eyes was a rage like nothing I have ever seen, and I've seen Gonzap get mad. This made him look mild in comparison," Wes stated.
"I think you're right Wes..." Kai said finally. "Even if a Pokémon is wild, they aren't that aggressive. And when they are captured, they are conditioned to at least listen to their trainer and they know who their opponent really is. That Meditite was not-is not normal..." She corrected herself, remembering that Wes now owned the Meditite.
