Taming The Shadows

Prologue

On the Outskirts of Orre, a lone gas stand sat in the middle of the desert area surrounded by old machine parts and various other scrap metals. It was an old train car that now served as a restaurant as well as a market. Within were but a few individuals, one of which was a young man with pink hair and violet eyes. His attention was fixed on the news as it interrupted the show that was currently on with a startling report.

"Just this afternoon, an explosion happened in the Eclo Canyon. Authorities said that the explosion happened due to several charges going off within what was known as the hideout for Team Snagem, a notorious criminal organization that has been stealing Pokémon from trainers. Nobody knows where the missing Pokémon are being held. Upon investigating the scene, there were no signs of Team Snagem anywhere. What we do know, is that whoever, or whatever caused this explosion, did so with a specific purpose in mind. Our investigative team found traces of devices that are widely known as Snag Machines. It was concluded that a small detonation occurred in the laboratory before the rest of the place was detonated..." A reporter droned on as the TV played the news footage of the earlier events.

Wow...someone finally stuck it to those Team Snagem jerks huh? Whoever it was, they have my respect, he thought as the news switched off and returned everyone to their usual station.

The sound of a very loud engine soon caught the attention of everyone within the stand.

Huh? What on earth was that!? The young man thought, standing up to rush to the entrance to take a look.

As he walked out the door, the sight of a strange motorcycle caught his attention. It had only one wheel and a side car with two Pokémon inside, an Umbreon and an Espeon. On the main seat, was a young man wearing a pair of silver sunglasses, a long blue and red trench coat with black pants and black boots with several buckles. He wore black gloves as well. The pink-haired youth took note of the scar across the center of the young man's face as well as the device attached to his arm.

The young man dismounted his vehicle and his two companions followed suit. With a sigh, the youth lifted his glasses and stretched. It was then that the pink-haired young man noticed that the strangely clad youth before him had gold eyes. He had seen strange things in his life, including his own discolored hair, but this took the cake. There was a presence about this youth that stirred something inside the pinkette. He wanted to battle him. Being a trainer, this was a challenge he was not going to miss.

This guy looks strong. And...is that a shiny Umbreon!? Okay...I'm jealous now, the pink-haired youth thought with a frown, taking note of the blue rings on Umbreon's body.

The new arrival walked up the ramp leading into the stand and gave the youth a passing glance before walking inside. The pinkette turned tail and followed him inside. He looked over at the counter to find him speaking with the tender behind the counter. After a brief exchange of words, the dirty blonde youth stepped away and took a seat in the closest booth. There was tension in the air due to his presence. The people weren't sure why, but there was something off about the lad.

As the young man adjusted himself in his seat, he looked up to see that the pinkette from outside was now sitting across from him. "Man, it's been a crazy day!" He said, getting a quizzical look from the blonde. "Oh, my bad, I forgot to introduce myself. The name's Willie," he said, extending his hand.

The blonde looked at it for a moment before taking it. "Wes..." he said, turning to see a waitress walk to him with a plate of food as well as something for his companions.

"Here ya go sir, if ya need anythin' else just holler and I'll get whatever you need," she said with a bright smile.

Wes thanked the waitress as she walked away and then took to his food.
