Summary: Lucian Roux is a youth cursed as the reincarnation of the infamous Morpheus: the god that destroyed the pathway between heaven and earth. Labeled as an outcast, he remains in a perpetual state of isolation and abuse from the entirety of his village.
In a desperate attempt to survive, he flees from the village of Caelum. He embarks on a journey to the Terras Empire in search of answers, regarding the foretold prophecy and the speculations surrounding his predecessor's actions. Along the way, he's accompanied by a self-righteous mercenary and a fiery thief in an adventure far beyond his expectations. With danger lurking at every corner, he might find that delving deeper into the past could not only destroy his future, but also everyone he cherishes.
Reviewer's Remarks: This is a story classified under the 'Fantasy' genre. I was not familiar with the concept of the story - the whole 'gods' thing which is why it took me a while to produce a review.
I have never - apart from the one time I skimmed through a Percy Jackson novel - actually read such works and I regret it. Because this story allowed me to glimpse into a mythical world which I did not want to leave.
The story of Lucian Roux is a well contrived work of fantasy with well-rounded characters and exquisite descriptions. I was in a state of multitude emotions - sympathy for Lucian's treacherous state, curiosity while he was pursuing revelations regarding the foretold prophecy e.t.c.
For me, a book is spot on when it is able to transport me to another completely different universe and engage me till the very end - this book for me succeeded in doing so.
