The Outside

THUNK!

Richard did the kick again and hit the bag the way Slade taught him.

That was what his life was like now; Sleep, eat, train, repeat.

It had been like that for the past week.

And oh, did he yearn for the sun. For the outdoors.

Yet, his room didn't have windows.

Oh, no, his room was in the basement.

Along with the make-shift study room and training room.

The only time he saw outdoors was when he was upstairs in the kitchen or living room.

And it just made him want the outdoors more.

BANG!

Richard started hitting the punching bag.

Fast and relentless, he hit.

The table was well lit. In fact, the whole room was, but the table was in the middle of the room.

Two chairs sat on the opposite side of each other.

"Sit." Slade's voice said.

Slade took one chair and Robin sat in the other one.

"What's this?" Robin asked looking at the paper on the table.

"A contract. We're going to negotiate this." Slade said.

Robin thought for a moment before nodding.

"I request that you listen to me, do everything I say, are respectful, and obey me." Slade said.

"What are your conditions?" Slade asked.

Robin looked up from Slade's hand writing on the paper with a pen.

"C-Conditions?" Richard asked

Slade nodded, "What do you want?"

"I..." Robin thought for  moment, "I want to know if my friends and family are alright. A-And I don't want you to threaten their lives any more!"

Slade nodded and wrote Robin's conditions down.

"Alright, anything else?" Slade asked.

Robin's mind was blank.

Dick shook his head.

"Okay, then, sign here." Slade pointed to a line.

Richard picked up the pen, but didn't sign his name yet.

"I'm a patient man, Robin." Slade said.

Robin licked his lips before he asked the question burning in his mind, "What about me?"

"What do you mean?" Slade asked.

"W-What happens to me?" Dick asked.

"You're mine. I'l take care of you." Slade said.

Richard still didn't sign.

Dick bit the bottom of his lip.

"Robin, you can end all this now. Just sign the paper." Slade said.

Richard signed 'Robin' on the line.

BAM!

The punching back was punched off the chain and landed in a heap on the floor.
