TUCKER PURSED her lips, blinking a few times. "Hellooooo?" Her voice curved a bit as if she tried to sound impatient. "Matthew?" She was confused, Tucker had received a phone call from Matt and he wasn't even answering.

Tucker heard a little giggle in the back. Then, there was the sound of movement, like he was grabbing his phone.

"Hello?"

"Hi, Matt?"

"Hi," he breathed out. Matthew didn't even know why, he wasn't out of breath before. "Um, I think I butt-dialed you..."

Tucker laughed to herself. "Ah that's okay..." She didn't sound nervous at all and here Matt was, struggling to think of words to say because anything on his mind before was completely gone and it was just her on his mind. But even if it sounded like Tucker wasn't nervous, she just couldn't think of anything to say. She was an awkward little bean. "So, should we hang up now or?" Tucker almost cringed at how pathetically awkward she sounded.

"No!" Matthew said a bit too sharply. He inhaled deeply, turning into mush. "I mean, no..." He smiled to himself, "I wanna talk to you." His voice sounded a lot different than she'd expected and she didn't remember what Alec Lightwood's voice sounded like because she was hiatus from home.

Heat rushed to Tucker's face and the corners of her lips forced their way up. But what was she supposed to say?

"Are you busy? Did I catch you at a bad time?" Matthew rushed to add on.

"No, no, not at all," Tucker peered around. She was outside in the dark, walking around carelessly in a park. "I'm just trying to think of what to say to you right now. If you haven't already noticed, I'm a very awkward person." The last sentence slipped and she mentally face-palmed. Her anxiety was swarming. Matt intimidated her. A lot.

"Your voice sounds more beautiful than I thought it would." Matthew blushed.

"Oh really?" She didn't mean for her voice to squeak; she was swooning over this guy she hadn't even met. "You're one to talk bud, I could listen to yours all day."

"Bud? What're you- Friendzoning me again?"

"Okay first of all, you friendzoned me. Second off, I didn't realize we were more." Tucker grinned madly, smiling to herself. "We just said we liked each other, that's all pal." Tucker emphasized the word, knowing he'd probably be bothered by it.

Matt just laughed. Crazy how something so simple could make someone melt. She just wondered how someone could be so amazing.

"Oh, that's right, I did friendzone you. And for that, I have to apologize."

"And we're still friends."

"That is until I finally see you." Matt thought about them meaning, how it'd be like. She'd be working in the library and he'd do his best to catch her while she was least expecting it, throwing her off her game. "Which is gonna be real soon baby girl, you better count on it." He tried to ignore the little noise that he'd heard from the other end. "Did you just squeal?"

"Yeah," her voice was muffled. Tucker had her sweater tightened over her mouth with a big smile. "Yeah, I did, I- uh, you called me baby girl so I kinda just-" she almost started giggling uncontrollably, but she stopped herself. "I'm sorry."

"Don't be sorry, it was cute. Everything you do is cute, you're just cute in general." Matthew rambled on carelessly. She smiled as he went on about how he bet she was cuter in person. "...and I bet you look cute when you're reading or putting books away. You're just cute."

"You done?" Tucker was outside, but since she was talking to this complete loser she wouldn't have known. He made her blush everywhere and she was warm, she couldn't even tell it was cold outside. "Because I'd rather not blow up here, Matt, you're killing me. You know that right?"

"I'm killing you? Oh well, I would hope not. I don't like the idea of killing the girl I like." he just couldn't stop, could he? "Wait, actually, I'm okay with tickling to the death. That, I'm okay with."

"Which reminds me, you seem like a very ticklish person. Are you as ticklish and cuddly as you seem?"

"Cuddly? Yes. Ticklish, you may want to wait to find out because it could be disappointing news."

"Are you always this much of a tease? Just tell me whether or not you're ticklish, I swear I won't tickle you if you are."

"And what I want you to find out for yourself?"

"That, or you just want my hands roaming around your body carelessly while I try to figure out if you giggle when I touch your abdomen."

"Would there be anything wrong with that, if I did?"

"No, I wouldn't mind it at all."

Tucker inhaled deeply, the cold air filling her cheeks as she continued to walk. It was abnormally cold that night in Los Angeles, maybe it was because it had rained prior that evening and it was still evident that it had. Little droplets of rain would trickle down any surface that was perpendicular from the ground and Tucker found her eyes drawn to them, a little something to calm her anxiety. She would count seconds in between breaths at how long it took for it to either hit the ground or double in size as it met a new friend.

"Baby, you still there?" Matt's voice seemed to be more conscience than the other several times he'd tried calling out to her.

"Yeah, I'm still here. What's up?"

"It's getting pretty late, so I think I should head to bed." His voice sounded gritty, like he was tired.

"Okay, yeah, that's cool." Tucker nodded.

"I'll try to call you tomorrow if not, I'll text you. Is that okay?"

"Yeah, sounds great. Get to sleep love." Tucker felt herself smiling at this man she liked. She thought about how she probably would never have this much confidence to talk to him on the phone. This woman was confident, hell yeah was, but to talk to someone with an unbelievable hook on her, that was considerably the most bravest things she'd done.

"Good night Tucker."

"Good night Daddario," The girl spoke. "Hey Matt?" She wanted to add one more thing. "Sleep well & sweet dreams."

A deep chuckle came from the other end and it was enough to dismiss Tucker's warmth and convince her that it was cold again. Or maybe it was the tingle the surged down her spine.

"I'll see you there baby girl."
