Chapter 17

You had both been watching the sunset for about an hour now. Your fingers were entwined with Yusei's, making Yusei smile slightly. You hear Yusei speak, "I think that I should be taking you back home now, Y/N. It's starting to get dark now." You sigh once more, "Alright." You get on to the back of Yusei's duel runner and head back to the bakery.

Yusei stopped in front of the bakery and helped you off of his runner. Before you could say goodbye, your father had come out of the bakery. Well this is awkward. You greet him with a sheepish smile, "Hi dad." Your father asks, "Did you have a good time with Yusei?" You blush and reply, "Yes I did." Your father adds, "Yusei, why don't you stay with us tonight?" Yusei responds, "I wouldn't want to impose." Your dad waved him off, "Nonsense. We'd love to have you stay with us." You wanted to die of embarrassment. Your dad asked, "What are you waiting for? Come inside you two before you both get sick." Your father went back inside. You look at Yusei, who had an equally puzzled look on his face.

You both came inside and were greeted by your mother. You were sitting on your bed, waiting for Yusei to finish washing up. You think back to how you two first met, you didn't think that any of this would really happen. It was like a dream almost. Yusei came out and saw your dream like state. Yusei calls out, "Y/N. It's your turn to get cleaned up." You snap out of your little trance and head to the washroom. That was embarrassing.

You both head down to the dining area where your relatives were waiting for you both. Your aunt and uncle look happy to see Yusei. You all sat at the table and your mother said, "I hope you like (Y/FF)." Yusei smiles, "Thank you, it's looks delicious." Your mother says to you quietly, "He's so polite." Your father asks, "So Yusei, what do your parents think of the two of you?" You nearly choke. Yusei responds sadly, "Oh uh, my parents died during Zero Reverse." You quietly hiss, "Dad!" Your mother quickly answers, "Oh I'm sorry we shouldn't have asked you that." Yusei replied, "It's okay. It was a long time ago." Yusei. You felt something squeeze your hand. You squeeze Yusei's hand under the table, reassuring him that everything's okay.

Your aunt asks Yusei, "What do you love about our niece?" Now you want to run. Yusei answers politely, "I love everything about Y/N. Her kind-heartedness, her willingness to help someone but the one thing I love the most is her big heart." You wanted to melt with happiness. Your mother cooed, "Aw! You are so cute!" Yusei blushes with shyness. You respond, "Mom! You're embarrassing him!" Your mom protests, "He's just so cute though!" Your father clears his throat, "So Yusei, what do you do for a living?" Yusei answers, "I do maintenance on duel runners and I turbo duel." Your father responds, "So you don't have a job? How are you supposed to take care of our daughter?" You quietly say, "Dad stop." Your father ignores you, "I see that you've spent time at the facility also, I can't have my daughter be with someone like that." You quietly mutter, "Excuse me, I've lost my appetite." You leave the table with frustration.

Yusei answers your father with a firm tone, "I may have been to the facility before but I truly care about Y/N. I'm thinking of working at the Ener-D reactor site in the future. Y/N didn't care if I was at the facility, she helped me when there was an explosion that nearly killed me." Yusei adds, "I love her and I'll take care of her."

You were frustrated with your dad. Why would he say something like that to Yusei? It wasn't his fault that he was at the facility, it just happened. Why couldn't your dad just give Yusei a chance? "You okay?" You turned to see your uncle looking at you worriedly. You sigh in frustration, "I'm just annoyed at the fact that dad won't give Yusei a chance." Your uncle answers, "He's just worried about you, bug. He hasn't seen you since you were a little baby and he doesn't want to let you go." You smile, "You haven't called me that since I was four." Your uncle pats your shoulder, "I'm sure that your parents are talking with Yusei right now and they'll understand." You sigh once more, "I hope so, uncle."
