Alissandra Cornado has always wanted more in the way of life. She has her family. She has the clothes on her back. She has very little food.
But she has this curiosity about the Wall. It's a beautiful wrought iron silver Wall. That separates her from everyone else, the rich ones. She wants to climb it, but she is terrified of the consequences.
So instead she hopes to be chosen to be an Official, or an Official's partner. Her parents want the opposite. They need her to stay with them. But what they don't know is that one Official, the head Official, doesn't want his partner just for looks, but for intelligence, bravery, confidence, and a brave heart.
He has been watching Aliss from afar, and realizes, that not only is she all of those, she is also young, pure, innocent, and beautiful. And the one he desires. And when a Head Official wants you, there is no bribing. Not even if you can afford to. And so, Aliss's story is changed, as soon as the handsome stranger chooses her.
