The Blue and The Gold, Part II

"I'm different?" Jayden asked.

"Yeah. You could say that. Different." I replied. I looked down at my feet. "I should um, go. I've damaged enough."

"You haven't. Come along and fight with us. Its getting late. Come home, won't you?" He offered.

I shook my head. "No. I'll return soon. But not tonight."

He nodded in understanding. "And I'll stay with you."

"Jayden, please, no. Don't stay out here with me. You're going to catch a cold."

"And so are you. I have a jacket."

"I'll be fine." I transformed into a crow and nudged him to go.

"I'm not leaving, Ash. I care about you."

I'm sorry Jayden. I whispered in my mind. But you don't need me screwimg up your life.

And with that thought in my mind, I turned and flew away.

He didn't chase after me, but stood and watched.

"A bird of mystery." He whispered as he watched me go.

The next morning I woke up to the sun. I had slept in the forest near the trail Kevin usually runs on at 6:30 A.M.

I waited until I saw Kevin jogging down below with Antonio closely but cautiously following him.

I followed Kevin as well up high in the trees.

"You coming, Antonio?"

"You knew I was here the whole time?" Antonio asked, and stepped out from his hiding place.

"Of course. It doesn't take an idiot to see a camera that's hidden in plain sight. So you coming or what?" Kevin shrugged and looked at Antonio.

"Might as well."

With several bickering on the way off of the trail, they spotted some nighlock quickly and hid.

The two began to fight, but their weapons were thrown out after slime covered them. They were thrown a few trees back.

"Alright moogers, finish them off." The octopus look alike ordered.

Kevin jumped into combat again, this time out of battle armor. Antonio was nowhere to be seen, until he jumped out as well.

The two made apologies to each other after the short battle, then went after the nighlock.

My work was done. I left the scene, but not before I saw the others looking around. I cawwed aloud, and once they looked up, I lead them to the battle. Once I did, I flew away.

I looked back to see flames behind me. So maybe Jayden and I weren't as different.

The toys that were stolen were naturally returned by us, anonymously.

"Hey, Ashlynn, I need to talk to you." Kevin called from behind me. I stopped walking and my shoulders tensed up.

"I suppose an apology is in the works?" I asked and turned around, crossing my arms.

"Yes. I'm sorry that I yelled at you."

"Kevin?"

"Yeah?"

"Have you ever broken a plate?"

"Once... Why are you asking this?"

"Did you ever say sorry to your parents when you did?"

"Ashlynn, I don't know what you're talking about!"

"Did you?"

He hesitated. "Yes."

"Did that sorry fix the plate?"

He hesitated again. "No."

"Do you see now why I regret to inform you that until you gain it, my trust and forgiveness will not be placed in your hands?" I asked.

"Why are you saying this?"

I turned my back to him.

"A lot of people have hurt me with my trust. And now, you're added to the list." I said quietly, and walked away.

He didn't deserve it, but sometimes hearts can turn to stone.

Hey guys I'm back for this week's update and probably next week's too. I know its Thursday and I usually update Saturdays but this Saturday I have French Finals Prep during Saturday school and I'm pretty sure I'm busy in the afternoon as well.
