The next few days we lived in peace with the Nighlock.
And then Ji got another report.
"Brides all over the city are being kidnapped during their weddings by moogers." Ji flopped a report on the table.
"That sounds awful, a wedding is supposed to be the happiest day of their lives and it's being ruined by them..." Mia shook her head.
"Yeah..." Emily said quietly, trying to imagine what it must felt like.
A flashback came into my mind. Scott and Jean's wedding. We all had to make precautions so Magneto and the brotherhood wouldn't do a thing to hurt the newly weds.
"Earth to Ashlynn." Mike waved a hand in front of my face.
"I'm sorry I just remembered an old memory..." I pinched the bridge of my nose.
"You were thinking of Scott and Jean's wedding." Logan walked in. It had been a week since his leaving. "If I may intrude, Ash, I have some news that concern Scott and Jean."
"Yes?" I looked at Logan with wide eyes.
"Jean's gone. Scott's in tears... We went to the funeral." Logan looked down at the floor. "She wanted me to give you this."
Logan dropped a locket in my hand. It held two pictures: one of her, and one of Scott.
"Who..." I tried to say, but my voice cracked.
"It was the only way to get the dark Phoenix out of her, I'm sorry Ashes." He shook his head, then left the room.
I stared down at the locket then blinked back tears. I looked up again and saw the team with their eyes full of comfort and sorrow.
"Ji, please continue." I cleared my throat.
"I have a plan, listen closely."

The plan was simple: fake a wedding and hope that the nighlock fall for it.
The main factor was hope.
Here I am, sitting in a chapel, watching Mia and Jayden get fake married and hoping the Moogers and Dayu fall for this idiotic plan.
Kevin is crying next to me - maybe because he wishes he was up there with Mia instead of Jayden, or he's crying of how beautiful this is supposed to be, when it isn't.
Mike's about to burst out laughing because Ji is wiping his eyes with a hankercheif, and then he turns around and sees that Kevin's crying and shakes his head in disappointment at Kevin's so called, "manliness".
Emily's smiling proudly, like Mia's parents would if they were here.
I'm sitting stiffly with my back straight and my face blank.
I don't want to be emotional.
Part of me wants to break down crying because I should be up there, not Mia.
The other part of me has a complete blank face while inside I'm hurting because this reminds me so, so, so much of Scott and Jean's wedding.
The blank faced part of me is winning.
Ji's phone interrupts the pastor.
"The nighlock didn't fall for it." Ji shook his head.

Jayden some how managed to tell everyone who was having a wedding that week that they shouldn't have it, with the exception of one. This way, we'd know exactly who they'd mark.
I was supposed to stay home.
And that's what I did. For about an estimate of five hours.
It wasn't fun.
I flew around as a crow for a while, and when that got boring I returned home and built a small grave in the edge of the backyard for Jean. I put on the locket, then ate a snack where I talked to Ji for a while.
The team of samurai returned. The boys were in tuxedos and the girls were in wedding dresses.
I should have been Mia, I should have been in that wedding dress.
But I wasn't Mia and couldn't fight alongside them. I was in my room when Emily walked in.
"Once we're changed in more casual clothes, do you want to come with us to the bakery?" Emily offered.
"Sure, thank you." I nodded.
"You okay?" She asked quietly.
My face turned stern. "Yeah, I'm okay."
"See you in a few minutes." She smiled and flounced away.
I changed into a white sweater, a t-shirt and jeans, then waited for them in the living room.

As we were walking down to the bakery, Jayden and Mia lagged behind.
"Jay, are you okay?" I asked, my eyes full of concern.
"There's a new nighlock. Deker. And he wants to duel me." He shook his head.
"Don't worry about it now, because now cupcakes are ours!" Emily butted in. I wish she hadn't.
She took the both of us by the hand and pulled us into the bakery.
It seemed like I was meant to fall for Jayden... But wasn't meant to be his other half.
