I casually walked into the kitchen of my home with Tahari's cell in my palm. I took a seat on one of the stools along the kitchen island. I then lightly pressed a button on her phone which lit up the screen. I swiped to unlock her cell and I was on her home screen. I tapped the menu widget and let my eyes roam around until I found messages. I opened her messages, reading the conversations which were stored into her phone, just searching for anything that might be inappropriate and I found nothing at all.

So I went on into her photos, longing to find something inappropriate and just like her text messages, I found nothing of the sort which relieved me dearly. As Tahari blossomed into a young woman, I often prayed that she wouldn't lose herself in this world like a lot of these teenage girls do. I didn't want her out in the streets, having sex, drinking, smoking and carrying on. Mischievous behavior was a no go in my household, I won't tolerate it. The only thing I want my daughter to focus on is her education. Her future is the only thing she should be focused on. Friends will have to be put on hold for the time being, I honestly feel that she doesn't need any, if they're going to have her out wandering these dangerous streets with random boys why have them...

That Briana girl always did rub me the wrong way, I had a feeling that the innocent bit was all an act. I definitely won't allow that friendship to continue any longer. I refuse to let my child follow behind her fast tail and end up like that. I snapped out of my thoughts and went to Tahari's contacts.
I searched until I found Briana's home number. I pressed call right before placing the cell to my ear.

As someone spoke into the phone I responded. "Hey Brianne, this is Lannette, Tahari's mother.", I greeted.

"Hey, how have you been?", she said in a friendly manner.

I sighed before speaking into the phone."Not so good, I called about Briana.", I said casually.

"What about Briana?", she queried and with that, her tone changed.

"Yesterday, I just so happened to look out the window to see my daughter and Briana getting out of a car with 2 boys. I asked my daughter about it and she went on and told me that they were just some guys from school that asked if they needed a ride home from school but today Briana showed up here early and she had breakfas-", I said before being cut off.

"Okay and your point is? Where is this all going Lannette? Is there something wrong with my daughter coming over to have breakfast with her best friend?", she queried snidely.

I furrowed my eyebrows at the fact that she cut me off in mid sentence with such a tone. "Well if you let me get to the point then you'll understand. Now as I was saying, Briana came over here early and she had breakfast with Tahari, after breakfast she left, mind you she was dressed appropriately. A little while later Tahari and her were to meet outside and hang out. Once Tahari left the house, I looked out the window to see your daughter wearing a small shirt showing cleavage as well as her stomach. Also she had on some small shorts that showed every nook and cranny, her behind hung out. Now I feel that was very inappropriate for a girl her age, in all honesty her attire in my opinion was inappropriate for any female of any age, especially to walk around in. Now when my daughter got home, I grilled her because she got out of that same car that both her and Briana got out of yesterday but what grew my suspicion was the fact that Tahari got out alone. It was only her and the boy which who was driving. Tahari told me that when they left my house walking, her and Briana got on the bus and headed downtown to Wing Snack. Tahari knows that I don't want her downtown, so sorry to say that I believe that it was Briana's idea. Now they were gone for quite a while so I'm more than sure that they were hanging out with them boys from yesterday after their little journey to Wing Snack. I did ask her where Briana was at and just as I thought, she was with the boy from yesterday, actually she is with him as we speak.", I said.

Brianne sighed. "Let me ask you a question Lannette.", she said in an indignant tone.

"Go ahead.", I said casually.

"Okay, tell me this, why is my daughter the blame for all of this? What makes you think that Tahari had no input in any of this?", she queried in the same tone.

"Well it's easy, your daughter came here dressed one way and came back half naked. My daughter is upstairs on punishment working on her report while your daughter is out in the streets with some boy doing God knows what. The fact that I know where my daughter is at this very moment and the fact that you're clueless of the whereabouts of yours Brianne, that's how I know." I said in an indignant tone.

I done had it up to here with her rude comments but at the same time I do understand. I'd defend my child as much as I could even if she's the one in the wrong but right now my child is not.

Brianne sighed. "You're right, I apologize for how I was speaking and on Briana's behalf and believe me, I will be having a talk with Briana. I'm not even going to call her or anything. I am going to wait for her to get home. I'll be debating on if I'm going to put my hands on her or not, what you described her to be wearing, I have never once seen her wear anything of the sort, thank you for calling and telling me.", she spoke.

"It's alright and I did tell Tahari that Briana was not to come over. I feel as if Briana doesn't respect herself nor Tahari then she doesn't respect my household.", I said honestly.

"I completely understand and as I stated before I will be having a talk with her and there's no doubt that she'll be on punishment but I'll talk with you later. I'm about to wait for her to come home, she better get here soon or it's a done deal, she's not too old to get an old school ass whooping, believe me.", she said in an indignant tone.

"Alright then.", I said in response.

"Alright, talk to you later.", she said before ending the call.

I took the phone away from my ear and sat it down on the kitchen island. I ran my fingers through my hair followed by a sigh. These young girls will be the death of some parents...
