(I know I done something similar before but this is different.)
Every few years, Hogwarts participates in an academic exchange program with Beauxbatons and Durmstrang, hosting students from across Europe for one school term. Professors call it an opportunity for cultural enrichment and international cooperation.
The students mostly treat it as the most exciting thing to happen all year.
As a prefect, Percy volunteers to help organize arrival schedules, dormitory assignments, and interschool etiquette guidelines. He intends for everything to run perfectly.
Then the Beauxbatons carriage arrives, and Percy meets Amelia.
Amelia is British-born, pureblood, and a Beauxbatons student who spent most of her childhood between England and France after her family relocated abroad. She's graceful without seeming arrogant, intelligent without trying to prove it, and unexpectedly easy to talk to.
Percy likes her almost immediately.
Their first conversation is surprisingly comfortable. Amelia recognizes Percy's surname because old pureblood families tend to know of one another, though she's far more interested in Percy himself than family reputations. Instead of teasing him for his seriousness like most people do, she genuinely listens when he talks. Percy, who's accustomed to being overlooked or interrupted, finds himself opening up far more than intended.
Amelia often joins Percy in the library because both of them genuinely enjoy studying. Percy helps her navigate Hogwarts' constantly changing staircases and hidden corridors, while Amelia introduces him to advanced magical theory taught at Beauxbatons.
Meanwhile, everyone else notices immediately.
Fred and George begin making unbearable comments every time Percy fixes his hair before breakfast. Ginny starts smirking whenever Amelia appears beside him in the corridors. Even Professor McGonagall seems suspiciously unsurprised whenever the two are paired together during school events.
