Checkmate Stories

He was a pawn, forced to become a king. Tired of his restrictions, he grew himself wings. An existence meant to only be protected, he flipped the board, changed the rules and to the battlefield he descended. He refused to be hidden and became the most powerful piece. To defeat him, one must simply not end his fate. For in this new game that he created, losing his queen was his only checkmate.

Checkmate, a check from which a king cannot escape. In a way, when you die it's as if God is saying "Checkmate". Life is just entertainment for lost souls, atleast, that's the way I think of it. Hi, I'm Willow Monroe, you probably haven't heard of me, atleast I hope you haven't. I'm what most would call a "Lost soul". I've got no purpose but to please the people around me. It's what I do best, depressing, I know. My parents, Jennifer and Adam Monroe are more interested in social status than anything, and that's where I come in. I'm what people call "a big-time horse rider", or "the queen of the ring". My parents use me for money, status, and all sorts of other things. This is why I feel there is no purpose in life. Nobody she knows by her side. Without her twin sister Beth. But still with the same love for chess. She tries to teach herself the complex game by playing with herself or other children and reading all kinds of chess books and magazines.
