Desiree tries to get to know him and for awhile he seems to want to get to know her but she soon realises that he doesn't care about her as much as he pretended too and thinks she's a big part of the reason why he was put there in the first place. Eventually they manage to escape and Desiree tries to flee leaving Kai and the rest of the clan drama behind,Seeing a chance to finally go after what she wanted most to be reunited with her sister. Kai has other plans for Desiree and the rest of the clan, making sure that Desiree has no choice but to head to mystic Falls to help others stop him from killing the whole coven. After many sad events most of the clan dies and both Kai and herself wake in transition. Eventually things lead her to the beautiful french quarter where she is about to have even more adventure enter her life. She quickly finds herself tangled up in the Mikaelson family and everything that comes with it which brings her lots of unexpected twists but the one she doesn't expect the most is the fact that she ends up finding love and loyalty like no other.
