A collection of oneshots for our lovely, inhumanely handsome Seventeen boys!
P.S: First try of making oneshots here... Please forgive this silly author for any form of mistakes in this book. Enjoy~!!
It was a dark, gloomy day, the dark clouds covering the blue skies, the sound of rain hitting the streets, and the distant sound of thunder rumbling.
You were safe from getting drenched, pacing in your house and not bothering to turn the lights on as you made your way to sit by the window. With a mug of hot tea in one hand, you slowly lifted your feet and brought them to your chest, a sigh leaving your lips as your eyes never left the droplets pelting against your window.
You loved the rain. It blanketed you with an odd sense of comfort and tranquility, allowing you to wind down and forget about everything else for just a few moments. In recent days, however, you found yourself unable to enjoy yourself as much as you normally would in rainy days like these, and all for one single reason.
Lee Chan.
Thoughts of the boy who was once your lover continued to plague your mind even after the two of you had broken up. You had been the one to call things off, and you felt you had a good reason to do so, despite the tinges of guilt and regret in your heart every now and then.
"You can't love someone unless you love yourself first."
This was what you had told him the day you broke both of your hearts. After dating for a little more than a year, you had begun noticing how he never cared for his own health. Chan was one of the most hard-working individuals you had ever met, and you were proud of who he had become despite being the youngest in Seventeen, but you worried for him.
You worried that he could intentionally be skipping meals to make time for extra practice. You worried that he was going to overwork himself. You worried that Seungcheol was going to call you some time in the night and apologetically ask you to pick your boyfriend up because he was too exhausted.
You worried that he loved everything about you but nothing about himself.
You had broken up with him with his best interests in mind, and you hoped he would understand. You did love him and the feeling was still very much there, but you felt it would be irresponsible and inconsiderate to let the person you loved destroy himself that way. So you let him go.
The ringing of the doorbell snapped you out of your train of thoughts. You frowned, not expecting a visitor in this weather, but walking over to the door regardless. You did not know what it was you had expected to be met with when you opened the door, but it was definitely not a drenched Chan, shivering as he stood on your doorstep.
"H-Hi, Y/N," he managed through chattering teeth, trying but failing to bring his lips up to a smile.
Still as astonished as ever, you ushered him into your warm house. You could care less about the wet mess he was making as he stepped inside, hurrying to turn the heater up in an effort to stop his shivering. You then made your way to your bedroom, grabbing a sweater and a pair of sweatpants he still had left from your closet. Handing him the clothes and a towel, you wordlessly led him to the bathroom, to which he offered you a small smile before shutting the door.
A soft sigh unknowingly escaped your lips as you thought about whether or not you should make a hot drink for him when he was done. You ultimately decided that it was only common courtesy that you did so, which was how you found yourself standing in front of the stove as you waited for the water to boil.
Strong arms suddenly enveloped you in a back hug, causing you to jump, but realizing the familiarity, you relaxed ever so slightly, only to reprimand yourself for it. 'What am I thinking? We're not together anymore. Get a grip, Y/N.'
"I've missed you," Chan whispered, bringing his chin to rest on your shoulder, his hold tightening around you.
You looked down, flustered at the sudden close proximity. "Chan-ah," you started, "you know you can't love someone--"
"--unless I love myself first. I remember what you told me, Y/N-ah, but it's bullshit."
"Chan--"
"I have never loved myself. But you?" He turned you to face him, looking right into your eyes with passion and a hint of desperation dancing in his own. He took a small step forward before placing a lingering kiss on your forehead, and you felt tears slowly brimming your eyes.
"I loved you so much I forgot what hating myself felt like."
