Eavesdropping

"James, if I didn't know better, I'd say you love this girl."

"I do."

She hadn't planned on eavesdropping. Se'd been walking towards the kitchen in search of James when she heard Mrs. Potter's voice on the living room. She almost kept walking, until she heard James reply. It was strange, what happened after that. It was like she was glued to the spot, her muscles were frozen and her hart was pounding. She wanted to move but she couldn't. He kept talking and Lily kept listening.

"She's just- I dunno, she's perfect. Y'know? She's clever and witty and she's far too good for me. Don't pull that face. She's a better person than I am and you're only going to argue because you're my mum. But Lily... she's beautiful and she puts up with me and the boys. I don't know, I guess I've known for a while that it's always going to be her. There's never going to be anyone else that makes me feel the way she does."
