Background: This deleted scene takes place after chapter 70 but is before chapter 71 in the first book, Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard: The Sword of Summer. In this scene, Magnus talks to his cousin Annabeth and has a vision that is a reference to the next book Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard: The Hammer of Thor.

After Odin declared that my friends and I had full access to the Nine Worlds, I was ready to pass out. I was ready to sleep in an actual bed, something I've been denied for nine days. When the All-Father left, I told my friends I was going to hit the hay.

"But Magnus!" TJ cried, "We're going out to get some late night pizza from Santarpio's!"

Pizza sounded good if I'm being honest; but sleep sounded better. "You guys go ahead. Maybe I'll come with you next time." I replied.

As my hallmates left to go get some late-night pizza, Blitz and Hearth came up to me. Blitz put his hand on my shoulder. "We'll see you tomorrow kid?" he asked.

I didn't want to think about tomorrow. I still haven't processed everything that has happened over the past few days. "Yeah."

As I rode the elevator up to floor nineteen, I decided to call Annabeth. My cousin is probably going to kill me for calling her so late at night but I needed to talk to her. After three rings, she finally picks up.

"Hello?" Her voice was groggy. "Who is this?"

"Hey Annabeth."

"Magnus? Oh my gods..." she paused. "Do you have any idea what time it is?!"

"Yes. Why do you ask?"

"I was sleeping you butt."

I laughed. "I figured. I was thinking we should meet up tomorrow here in Boston and talk. I don't know if you can make it--"

"Of course I can make it! You're my cousin! We haven't seen each other in years!"

I stopped. She wants to talk with me. Perfect. "Great. I want someone there with me when I throw my mom's ashes in the Blue Hills like she wanted."

Annabeth went quiet." You got your mom's ashes?! How?"

"Uh..." Oh Annabeth, I thought to myself, I almost died trying to heal my friend and my dad Frey decided to visited me in a vision and he told me to talk to you and he gave me her ashes. "My dad gave them to me. It's kinda of a long story."

Annabeth was silent. "Where and what time should we meet up?" She said finally.

"In front of the Cheers bar at noon?" Tomorrow we all are going to Public Garden to say our goodbyes to Gunilla and her lieutenants. Something about a boat and fire? I don't remember.

"You got yourself a deal Magnus." she agreed. "Now, let me sleep you butt!"

When she hung up, the elevator doors opened. Walking into my room, I thought about all the stuff that has happened in the past few days; arriving at the Hotel Valhalla, learning about the Nine Worlds, fighting a wolf who helped killed my mother...could I really tell Annabeth all that? The way she said gods back at the funeral home surprised me. Did she somehow get mixed up into all of this? Is she a demigod? Looking around my room, at the tree, the grass floor, the mantel with the picture of my mom and I when I was a kid, I was going to have to wait until tomorrow afternoon.

You think after a quest, I'd have some peaceful dreams? Nope. Suddenly, I was floating in total darkness. It was nothing but a black void of...well, black. I thought, Well, I wonder what's going to happen now? Then, three hooded figures start to come out of the void and float towards me. I recognized them from the feast hall when I first came to Valhalla. I recognized the white robes, their blank, white unnerving yet beautiful faces, their sculpted snow skin. The Norns, the goddesses of fate, had decided to pay me another visit. Joy.

Magnus Chase. They all spoke at once. You cannot escape what fate has put in front of you.

Suddenly, the black void started to show images but they all made no sense whatsoever; a hammer, a bowling alley, a beautiful mansion with the letter A on the gates, a sheathed sword with a stone, a plane, a wedding dress. Why these objects? What could they mean?

Then the images showed Loki in an emerald green tuxedo with a frilly maroon shirt, a paisley bow tie and a matching cummerbund. He would've looked handsome in it if his face wasn't so scarred from poison over the past few centuries. He smiled at me.

"Magnus! You have yet to me my other child!" he exclaimed. Other child? Sam was his daughter, so was the World Serpent, Hel and Fernis Wolf. Who else could be his child? Why do I have to meet them?

Another image appeared next to Loki; a person. Okay so this child is human...I think. The person didn't face me but from what I could tell, he had a petite body. He was wearing pink high tops, lime green jeans, a pink and green cuadros sweater vest over a white collared shirt and a pink sweater tied around his waist. His hair was short and wavy. Did I also mentioned it's dyed green with black roots? Apparently, the kid liked pink and green. A lot.

Next to the kid, Loki laughed. "You two are going to have so much fun together! Isn't that right, my child?"

The person turned and I felt my face go red. The kid had Loki's face except it wasn't burned and scarred. The kid also had his eyes; the left dark brown and the right an amber color. But the problem I had with the kid is that I couldn't tell if the kid was male or female. I assumed he was male when he had is back turned but now I'm not so sure. I wanted to say something but looking at this kid, I was unable to speak.

Loki laughed again. I wanted to stuff his paisley bow tie down his throat to stop him from laughing again. Loki raised his arms,"This going to be so much fun Magnus!"

At the mention of my name, I woke up and bolted right up. I groaned. What was that? Who was that kid? Why did my face go red when I saw him/her? I guess I'll find out someday.

I checked the time on my phone: 8:01am. Great, I was late for breakfast. I climbed out of bed and got ready for the day.
