Yoongi: Family Issues

Being the baby of the family was very difficult, especially since your parents seemed to be on your case all the time. They wanted you to only have As in school, expected you to be in every club offered, as well as do other work outside of school. To them, you were going to be their perfect child, even if it meant not even sparing a glance at their oldest - your big brother.

Yoongi did relatively well in school; he was an A-B student, was on the basketball team and in archery club. He was rather quiet and didn't really like to make friends; he mainly stuck with the same six people that basically became his second family - yours as well. Your brother was kind-hearted and a silent leader, but you always felt so bad for him.

It was like your parents didn't realize they even had Yoongi. They were so engrossed with running your life that they forgot about him. You had come up with the theory that maybe he was their failure, and that you would be the child they always wanted. They even admitted that they wanted a girl first, which made you so angry.

Your big brother was your superhero; you had looked up to him since you could remember. He was your protector, as well as a bit of a clown when he noticed that you were upset in any way. When your parents would make you go to school while running a fever, Yoongi would check you and himself out and simply go back home. Your parents would always yell at him for that, but not once would he yell back.

That was the thing about Yoongi; he simply took it. He didn't care, or maybe he gave up caring. You knew your brother didn't really care about much, but what he did care about, he treated like a precious treasure.

"(Y/N), we need to talk about your grades," your mother said in the middle of a quiet dinner. Your family never talked much at the table, but when they did, it was usually about you. You hated it. And you especially hated it tonight because you knew exactly what your parents were going to say.

"You have a C in your math class. Care to explain why?" your father said, looking up from his plate expectantly. You simply sighed, feeling Yoongi's eyes on your from his spot to your immediate left. "I'm not perfect, and it's an accelerated course a grade-level up from my own. They move too fast and I don't understand the material and I've been to tutoring with my teacher, and even she agrees that maybe I should switch out classes," you replied monotonously.

That was not what your parents wanted to hear; it was never what they wanted to hear. They never wanted to hear the truth, and you had absolutely no clue as to why.

Your mother shook her head with a sigh, frowning at you. "It's the perfect class for you. I just don't think you're trying hard enough," she said unsympathetically, taking a bite of her steak. You glared at her, holding your fork in your hand so tight your knuckles were turning white.

"I am trying, mother. Maybe it's because I'm stressed out with all the other crap you force me to do and I shouldn't be in that class," you said firmly, not even flinching when your father slammed his hand down on the table.

"No, you're not. You're just getting lazy. From now on, you're grounded until you bring up that damn grade!" he snapped, causing your face to flush crimson in anger.

"Why do you yell at me all the time? Why are you always on my case? Why are you forcing me to do things I seriously can't do? It's always me! It's never Yoongi, who seems to be the only one in this damn house that actually listens to me!" you yelled right back, standing up.

"Yoongi exists, too! He does well in school, he wins nearly all of his basketball games! He's so successful and yet you never bat an eye at him! You yell at him when he checks me out because I'm too sick to go to school, yet you force me to go anyways! You yell at him when he so much as breathes! Other than that, it's like you don't even know he exists!"
