To Know Him is to Love Him // Leo's Ending.

Everything hurt. That was your first thought.

Your mind felt tired and...mixed up. Like too many thoughts were swirling around in your head and you just wanted to turn them all off.

'It all hurts...why?'

'Blood. I was bleeding.'

'Run. I tried to...'

'Leo.'

"Leo!"

You were awake now and trying to get up. But the attempt to sit up caused pain to suddenly burst through your body and you almost screamed. The shock of it sent you back down onto...a bed? It was a bed but...not your own. It was an unfamiliar bed and you were in an unfamiliar place. Looking around, you saw that it was a tiny room. The room you were in had dusty white curtains and yellowed wall paper decorated with delicately painted lilies and butterflies.

Where were you? What had happened?

You wondered if it all had been a terrible dream (you wanted it to be) but the throbbing pain in your side told you otherwise. You looked down. You were wearing a too big tank top that had ridden up, revealing...bandages. Thick bandages wrapped all around your stomach. It had been real, you thought, someone had attacked you.

"Y/N?"

You looked up and saw April, a first aid kit in her arms and a relieved smile on her face.

"Oh, thank god!"

She ran to your side, sweeping you into a tender hug (she was worried about hurting you) and nearly crying as she went on about how worried everyone had been, about how you hadn't woken up in quite a while.

"April, what happened? And Leo, where's-"

"Leo's fine. I mean, fine for the most part...it was pretty bad, Y/N."

She told you everything as she changed your bandages. The ninjas you had seen where sent by the Foot Clan...and they were lead by Karai. The Lair had been lost but everyone had managed to escape, running to the safety of April's farmhouse. Mikey had a broken leg, Donnie a broken arm. Raph had a bad concussion but was alright now. And Leo...Leo had been hurt pretty badly himself but had woken up the day before you.

"Why were they at my apartment?" You asked.

"We aren't sure but...we think they were trying to get to you. Karai didn't know where the Lair was but knew that you did. She wanted information."

Her words sunk in, giving you a sick feeling. You didn't know what she would have done to you but...if Leo hadn't been there...

"Is he okay?"

You didn't say his name but April knew who you were asking about.

"I don't...I don't know. His shell...He's angry. His heart is broken. He's been blaming himself for everything and...he's been so worried about you. Everyone has...Y/N, you almost..."

April didn't say it. She couldn't. She nearly started crying at just the thought of it and, you knew that if April cried then you would too. Luckily Michelangelo happened to be walking by just then and saw you up and awake. A big grin came onto his face and he hobbled into the room, shouting as he did.

"Good morning, Sleeping Beauty!"

And despite everything, you found yourself laughing (and wincing because laughing, as it turned out, was a little bit painful right now). Mikey's voice practically summoned the others, bringing the turtles and Splinter and Casey into the little room. You signed two casts (Mikey and Don had both saved a space for you), hugged Casey (who was in near tears as well, the big sweet lug), and assured everyone that you were okay.
