Imagine finally coming home.
You’ve been gone a long time, maybe visiting family or for work or some other reason. It doesn’t matter. What matters is how much you’ve missed your home. You’re tiny apartment, the sound of the city at night…and the turtles.
You had grown so attached to them, particularly one special brother. And after months of texting and calling and missing them, you’ve finally come home.
Leonardo has missed you more then he likes to say.
Oh, he told you of course, practically every night. The two of you would talk for hours until one of you fell asleep. It was almost always you. Leo would stay on the phone for a little bit, listening to the sound of your breathing. He’d remember when he heard it right next to him whenever you stayed over and it would hurt so much.
He hangs up.
And throws himself into training, anything to keep his mind and body busy. Anything to keep active and awake because He struggles to sleep now. He had grown used to you by his side, sleeping soundly with him. Now he lays awake, eyes closed and mind buzzing.
He doesn’t tell his brothers how much he misses you but they know. They hear him toss and turn for hours at night, his footsteps early in the morning. They give him space.
But those days are finally over, you’re finally back home. And he can’t wait any longer. You had told him that you would see him after your flight landed and you took a nap, but damn it, he’s not waiting for it.
Next thing he knows, he’s running out of the lair and across the city, following the familiar path to your home. He slips in through the balcony door (he has a little key of course, that he wears around his neck) and waits.
And waits.
And waits.
Until finally, he hears the jingle of keys and your bags hitting the floor. The light coming in through the window is enough to show you a figure in the dark, tall and muscular.
You know exactly who it is.
“Leo!”
And he’s across to the room in a second, picking you up in his arms and just holding you tight. And kissing you. And lost somewhere between laughing and crying.
“God, I missed you.” he whispers.
“I missed you too.”
You kiss again and again until he pulls away, just enough to say,
“You ready for bed?”
Of course you are. The two of you walk into your bedroom and collapse onto the tiny bed. It’s a tight fit but that just means he has to hold you close. You close your eyes and the jet lag gets to you, pulling you into a deep sleep. Your head against his chest, you breath softly and he just listens.
And closes his eyes.
And finally falls into a peaceful sleep.
