When You're Ready

Shawn's P.O.V

Sitting in the living room of Y/N's house I really didn't know why I was here. She had invited me to the party she was having to celebrate the three year anniversary of dating her boyfriend.

This was so dumb but I guess that's what I guess for not telling her she's the one I want. We had dated for a few years on and off and eventually it stopped working.

Looking up from my red solo cup I saw Y/N looking at me from where she was sitting. I smiled a little and she smiled back while tucking hair behind her ear.

Getting up I filled my cup again and downed it. Leaving the house I was planning on walking home because I was to drunk to be driving.

"Shawn. Wait" I heard Y/N call.

Turning around I looked at her and smiled a little.

"Where are you going?" she asked.

"home. I um I'm going home" I tried not to slur my words.

"you know you can stay the night" she grabbed my hand.

"I know I just can't." I said looking at my shoes.

"why not?"

"because I'm waiting"

"waiting for what Shawn?" she tilted her head.

"you" I whispered.

I watched as her face twisted into shock.

"I had no idea you still had feelings for me Shawn"

"i'm sorry I probably messed things up. Just don't worry about it i'll just leave and head home"

"no no it's okay you haven't messed anything up"

"well even ten years from now if you haven't found somebody I promise i'll be around tell me when your ready i'm waiting for you" I gave her a half smile and walked away.

"wait Shawn"

I heard her calling after me but I couldn't turn around because I knew I wouldn't be able to turn back.
