Harry Styles
The hallway was full of smoke, making the air hazy and the smell chalky. The fire must've spread, I don't know how but these halls were pulsating of thick dark smoke. I step back and shut the door so we were barricaded in the lab still, taking Niall's arm off of me and directing it to hold the wall.
"What are you doing?" He asks.
I grabbed the collar of my shirt that was already ripped from Axel earlier, taking one side of the rip and tearing it to make a long thick strip. I take the discarded fabric and turn to Niall, putting it around his nose and mouth then tying it at the back of his head.
"You're already weak, breathing in that amount of smoke will kill you." I state.
"What about you?" He asks.
"I'll be fine."
"No, Harry it's not good for you either." He protests.
I huff and rip another piece of my shirt from the opposing side of the original rip near my collar, tying it around my own face to cover my nose and mouth.
My shirt was now just a piece of shredded fabric but it still stays on my body and covered most on it.
"You ready?" I ask.
He nods, slinging his arm back around my shoulder. I open the door wide again to reveal the smoke. I instantly jogged out wth Niall limping at a fast speed, trying to keep up with me and he was doing well. We weren't full on sprinting or anything, but we were jogging and he was being really good at ignoring the pain in his leg.
"Take this." I shout over the blaring alarm and hand him the other gun I had, putting it in his hand that wasn't around my shoulder.
He nods as we hurry down the hallway, making rights and lefts everywhere. It was so smoky, which was good and bad for us. Good because people won't see us coming as easily and bad because we can't see people coming as easily.
The smoke was hurting my eyes like hell, making them water but I fought to keep them open. Three silhouettes ran around the corner and both of us just shot them without even seeing who they were. We had to take chances, it's the only way we will survive.
As we went to run past them, I glanced down to see who they were and luckily it was just random Deception members.
We kept going, half jogging half limping through the blinding smoke. I couldn't help but look down for a second while running, trying to shield my eyes for just a moment.
"Harry." Niall spits up and stops, causing me to look up.
A few meters in front of us was Liam, standing at the corner of the hallway with his gun held up and pointing at us.
We stood frozen, staring at someone who we've known for years but had betrayed us for a gang that was ran by my father. My gun wasn't up, it was down by my side and I couldn't move it now. If I raised it up then he could shoot up before I even blink.
The smoke was heavy, but it almost seemed like the space between us was clear. I could see every feature clearly on him, and he looked different. He was obviously bleach blonde, he was skinnier and so fucking pale. His eyes had dark circles and bags like he hasn't slept in a century. And what I didn't notice before was his wrists and forearms.
This blue veins beneath his skin were so prominent and snaking up his forearms. It didn't look natural at all, they looked as if he was mutated somehow. The veins were so bright and aggressive, and it just left me confused.
"Go." Liam says while still holding the gun up, his brown eyes empty and dull.
Did he just say go?
