She just sat there...staring out of the window, mournfully. There was a pained expression on her face, it looked as if her heart had split in two. As if it had shattered into a million pieces. As if it had been ripped away from her.
Sebastian had just told her the news.
He hated himself for it, he loathed himself so much as he told her the news. Her immediate reply had been 'ok'. It was not 'ok', things were far from 'ok'. She was heartbroken. Devastated but trying not to show it. She didn't want him to see her pain but he could see it, he could see her internally screaming, he could see the sorrow in her eyes, the slight quiver of her lip. She was in shock, most likely unsure how to react, her hormones all over the place.
Instead of speaking, he just gathered her in his arms. Their previous argument forgotten about. He just held her. That was when she broke down, her barriers fell and her emotions flooded to the surface as tears and howls of anguish. But still he held her. She screamed about how it was 'unfair' and 'why her?!', still he did not let go. Sebastian just sat there quietly, cradling her to his chest, trying not to cry himself. Out of all the horrific things that they had both experienced, this was probably the worst. Seeing her like this was the worst thing he had ever seen, he never wanted to see her cry again. He loved her so much that he wanted to spend the rest of his life trying to keep her smiling.
He had failed so far.
Never again.
She would be happy.
They would be together.
They would be happy.
Even if he had to move the stars and moon to do so, he would.
He could, couldn't he?
“Bastian?” she whispered, her voice hoarse from the weeping.
He couldn't even bare to look at her for the shame he felt, he was such a failure.
Valerian stared up at him, when he failed to meet her gaze, she sighed. He had truly gone off her, she couldn't provide him with what he truly wanted, a family. He didn't love her any more. How had she not seen that coming? It would seem that awkward girls don't always get the guy.
