Another perfect day, life had never felt so good and that was all thanks to Sebastian, he had swept Valerian from her horrible life with her ex, Jason and shown her what it was like to be truly loved. She must have been the luckiest girl in the world right now. To make matters even better, her sister, Tabitha, had managed to get a date tonight with Chris! She was so happy for them both, it had been too long since Tab had dated and too long since Chris had found someone he was interested in. She wished them all the luck in the world.

Lying on the leather sofa in the living room, Valerian stretched out, relaxing her muscles as she waited for Sebastian to return home. He had needed to go and return Chris's jacket before the big date. She had offered to go with him but Sebastian had insisted that Valerian stay at home and rest.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door, that was quick. Why was Sebastian knocking, maybe he had left his keys again, he was prone to doing that, luckily, Valerian usually had hers. Slipping off of the sofa, she padded over to the door. “What did you forget this time, Bastian?” she laughed, unlocking the latch.

But it was not Sebastian waiting for her...

...it was Jason.

Sebastian felt very pleased with himself. Very, very pleased. He could not believe that Valerian had fallen for the jacket charade again. He had gotten a call from the local jewellers, saying that the ring he had chosen was ready for collection. He was going to propose to her tonight. At first, Sebastian had thought about taking her out to a fancy restaurant and making a big deal out of the whole gesture but he wanted it to be intimate, he wanted it to just be him and her. It just felt right that way.

Walking into the elevator, he pressed the button for his floor, almost giddy with excitement. He must have looked crazy with his Cheshire Cat-like grin but he did not care, nothing could have ruined his good mood. The lift quickly ascended and the doors opened with a ping but he did not expect what was awaiting him...

...a group of worried looking girl scouts delivering cookies outside of his door.

“Mister, I think someone's in trouble.” one of them, the eldest, squeaked, looking at him wide-eyed.

A scream erupted from inside the apartment. The movie star felt himself turn pale at the sound, it was Valerian. Quickly, he got his keys out of his pocket and fumbled with the lock. “Girls, I suggest you go back to your parents and get them to call 911, you understand?”

They nodded, darting for the elevator.

Letting himself into the apartment, he braced himself like he had last time. “Valerian?” he called into the silent living room. There was no one there. Suddenly behind him, there was the sound of a vase smashing and more screams. He headed towards the bedroom.

Running into the room, he found Jason banging on the en suite door. “Let me in you little, b****!” he pounded at the door, trying to force it open. He looked exactly as Valerian had described him. Jason was handsome, like a boy out of Private School. He wore a smart suit, which had the sleeves currently half ripped off. His black shirt was torn in several places. His flawless features were tainted by fingernail scratches, no doubt where Valerian had tried to defend herself. Stray locks of fine gold hair fell into his face as his green eyes burned with hatred.

Sebastian had to be careful where he trod, as remnants of the vase he heard smashing littered the floor. “What the hell do you think you're doing?!” our hero yelled as he advanced towards the vile man.

The offender turned around, staring at Sebastian with a twisted smirk upon his lips. “I wondered how long it would take for you to get here.” he snarled. “So, this is who she left me for, I must say I'm disappointed, Valerian could have done so much better-” he probably would have continued if Sebastian had not suddenly smashed his fist into Jason's face.

Picking him up by the lapels, Sebastian slammed Valerian's ex into the nearby wall, holding him there as he tried to stop himself throwing the woman-beater off the balcony. “How the hell did you get in here?!”

Jason laughed. “She let me in.”

“Bulls***!” Sebastian threw him to the floor with a mighty thud, stunning Jason. The movie star proceeded to kick him in the gut repeatedly until he was begging for Sebastian to stop. The coward. “I'll ask you again, how did you get in here?!”

“I waited till you had gone and then I snuck in, she thought that I was you!” another kick, this time to the face. “I wanted to know who she had replaced me with and it turns out it was just another one of Hollywood's w****s!”

Sebastian grabbed Jason by his fine, blonde hair and continuously punched him until he was spitting out more blood than saliva. “You're gonna listen to me and then you're gonna leave here and never come back, understand? Stay. Away. From. Valerian. She doesn't love you anymore and if I find ou that you've laid another finger on her, then I swear I will find you and I will rip you limb from limb. Nobody hurts her, especially not scum like you.”

The sound of the bathroom door unlocking caught Sebastian's attention, he held onto Jason tighter but turned his head to look at his girlfriend. “Valerian?”

She stepped out from the other room, swaying slightly as she did. The Marvel actor almost wept when he saw what the a** had done to her, it was too awful to even describe, she was covered in so many bruises and cuts that Sebastian lost count. Jason had severely hurt her this time. “Bastian?” she whispered before collapsing on the threshold.

“What did you do to her?!” Sebastian growled at Jason, holding him down onto the ground.

“Everything she deserved.” Jason giggled. He truly was a psychopath.

That was when everything became chaotic, police burst into the room, paramedics followed. The whole thing was a blur from that moment onwards, all Sebastian remembered was holding Valerian's hand in the ambulance as they drove to the nearest hospital, where doctors and nurses were waiting to treat her horrific injuries and Jason was led away by several law enforcers to a police van, where he would await his punishment.

At the apartment, policeman and woman were treating the apartment as a crime scene, the forensics team bagging certain items.

The ring that Sebastian had brought lay on the floor, it's velvet box lying open, revealing the exquisite diamond and platinum band inside.
